I recently acquired an Orion V1.1, & it needs the mouthpiece & side air hole bored out. What diameter is recommended? Thanks!

I actually preferred it stock on my 1.1, but 1/16 on my 2.1. If you look under the top caps of both v1.1 and v2.1 they're actually different and as such the vortex pattern is also different. The 2.1s are slightly larger and chamfered, whereas the 1.1s are bevelled. You might try nosmoker's 6ml bottle test to find your airhole size before drilling. I do prefer a tighter draw though as I like the ability to take 2-4 sec hard vapes.

Edit: Here's a pic of the differences. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/822/img0534dme.jpg/

The flavor is much better once the setup is right. It took me a while to fine tune, but the flavor is not bad at all now. It was a little bit muted at first but now that I figured out how to get all the voltage to the coil the flavor is about the same as other Genisis mods with bored out air holes, with alot more vapor. It is definitely easier to activate with your teeth than your lips but I am working on correcting that on mine right now. :)
Thanks , but not bad is not gonna cut it for me. Maybe I'm ruined with Orion bring my first genny. The other genesis I tried was a big disappointment in the flavor department.

Wrt tuning, Ive discovered I'm not a fan. 38 yrs 2pad has diminished my lung capacity. I can't do 6-10 second draws like on the vids. The modded v1 I traded for has diminished flavor IMO and I can't draw long enough to get good vapor. Much prefer stock for flavor. Plumes don't mean a lot to me.

For giggles I tried an atty & carto on my new Piccolo.....ugh. Can't go back.

No, cartos definitely do not cut it, lol. If I ever get to meet you, I'll let you try the little beast. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. The draw is 1/2 to 1 second and with it broken in and having a fresh battery the flavor is very good. Not quite on par with an Orion, but not far behind. It is a very different little mod for sure and does take a bit of getting used to it to use it right. But once it's sorted and you figure out how to use it it is a very enjoyable little device.

Don't you dare!!!

I am so thankful I didnt tune my baby, because I had yours to compare. That is priceless! If Les would offer caps it would be different. And tbh, it wasn't until after trying the zen that I started to experiment with the 2 Orion's. For Me the zen was a fail but it was also a huge lesson in how atomizer chamber vs air flow affect flavor. I've spent the past week trying different coils and changing just the cap back and forth. My winner is stock for flavor.

It's all good. It has helped me narrow down my wish list for certain. If I was made of money, I'd try them all. Maybe my next life!

OK, that makes feel better :) At least you can switch between the caps also. It isn't to hard to fill the hole and re-drill it. "Tuning" my NGP and I thought I ruined it, but I figured it out :)

@OB. Yes, I have, and yes it works (but so does the "Jack Frost" method, the original torch/quench method, and the cigarette paper method). I did spread my coils out a little more so I did not have to tighten down on the spring to shorten the distance. The only thing I liked about it was the "perfect coil". In any case, I just wrap and vape them now, and just change or clean the wick occasionally. I know when I have a setup right, and I know when it isn't. It all comes down to wicking, no shorts, air flow in relation to coil position, and finally heat of the coil no matter what the path you take to get there.
