Hey 'emonty', just curious if your glass tanks are the ones you got from Terry or the new Les ones? I'm wondering what size o-rings you used if they're Terry's. I think I asked and you told me, probably on this thread, but I have forum overload now...lol

Turbo,

The tanks from Terry, same orings from Less, but a tiny bit thicker, dunno the size, bought 100 assorted orings on ebay..
The tanks from Less: use the orings that Less supplies

Blew my coil at work today, and did not have a backup PV with me! Found some .15 nichrome in my bag, did a braided 4 wrap coil, wrapped it up and back in business. Spent the day trying to break it in :( but at least I was back up in 5 minutes :) Home now, and think I'll just leave this one one there as it is kicking it pretty good.

Thanks 'emonty', thought that was the deal. What does your new coil ohm at 'jolly'? I may try a twisted coil on my next. Did you do anything different 'crypto' when putting the new switch in, like extra o-rings, etc?

So far I've been using the same 4/3 wrap coil since July 17th. I flush it out every night and sometimes twice a day when the juice gets dark.

I did a dry burn the other day, although my coil wasn't gunked bad (I have great juice for not gunking). Every since then I'll have some burnt tasting hits but mostly fine. I probably should have left it be, as now I'm guessing the kanthal/wick has to season again.

Anybody else notice that after dry burning/cleaning the coil?

@turbo, it was 1.3Ω and TBH was just to hot for me when I got home and put a fresh batt in, and the VG was having a hard time wicking fast enough for it. No shorts though... So I upped it another wrap, 4/5 - still using .15 twisted. Now it is 1.6Ω and is perfect for me and wicking is keeping up again. I have no idea what my old coil was at, it was about 5 weeks old... but I like the twisted coil setup a lot :)

I usually put a little water in a shot glass, dry burn a sec just to get it hot, dunk just the wick in a little water. Do this a few times, and coil & wick are clean. Refill tank and go. Current wick/coil, I get no darkening of the liquid through a whole tank - with GJ or BB. Go figure. Used to be a big problem. But it does gunk the wick coil up fairly quick. The AVE Havanna gold, 555, flue cured, bees knees & Blend 4 don't darken in the tank or gunk the wick coil at all. The HG is a mello tobac vape that I really like. Yes, I like AVE :)

use some 200 mesh, wicking will be fine.

@muddstar, yes I should, as I have been running some 200 in my hellfire and it keeps up great. But this setup is good for now and vaping good, will switch over to 200 & 3/4 twisted coils when I replace this wick. I just tried running a big 325 in a ZAG without the isolator, couldn't get to stop shorting and gave up for now on that. Switched it back to a skinny w/ isolator. Usually I don't have problems  enough playing for one night, I wanna vape :)
