I got my start on the Clarinet in grade school. Then once I got to JR high school I thought the Clarinet was not "cool' enough so I started on Bass Clarinet, then Tenor Sax, then Baritone Sax in a marching band, the thing was almost bigger than me! Played in a Penn State game half time show and I only had about 4" of ground clearance with that thing around my neck! Loved belting out those low bass notes.
I finally ended up getting an Alto sax but have not played it in years. Thinking of picking her back up and see what I can remember.
I had to look up "shiggles" in the Urban Dictionary. You're making me feel very out of touch and uncool.
Edit: Maybe I shouldn't have retired. If I were still teaching college freshmen and sophomores, I would have known that word. I learned a LOT of urban lingo from my students. More than I wanted to know usually.

I started with Clarinet in grade school too. It didn't last long though. I switched to the Coronet my grandmother had played in our small towns band nearly a hundred years ago now. I never knew her, she died less than a year after my father was born, but I still have her coronet and a newspaper clipping w/pic of her with it and the town band back then. Late 50's I took up electric lead guitars, had both Gibson and Fender guitars, but my favorite was the last solid body I bought, a Framus Strato Deliuxe Sunburst ordered direct from the factory in Germany. Wish I still had it, the Gibson's, Fender's and amps from the 50's and 60's as well... BIG $$$$ now. Played lead in bands late 50's until Vietnam mid 60's. Played again after it for awhile, then switched from electrics to acoustic/classical guitars in about '71 and played/sang solo in speakeasies off and on to the mid 80's. Then I took up keyboards and harmonica until the late 90's. Only have one of my guitars still, a Japan Martin Sigma GCS-6 Grand Concert bought new in about '72, but I never play it.
Framus, Marin Sigma and Dot Marie's Martin Coronet (I don't play it anymore either).
Nice one Yolo! You have that woody finely tuned (I'm guessing its an 18490 Woodvil? My favorite device?)
Actually it is a black Reo Grand with a sparkly door but all the vapor and my gloved hand was covering it. Here is a better picture.
Someday maybe i will get good with my camera.

Just as a kind of a side note, my uncle had a machine shop that was on the next street from fender in Fullerton, Ca. did a lot of work for Leo Fender. A lot of history there that at the time, that I was not particularly interested in then. I still kick myself today for not hanging around there more.
My uncle did end up with one of the three protos of the Stratocaster, and had it until he died a few years ago. My cousin got it, and don't know if she still has it or not. I believe Alvino Rey had one, and not sure where the other went.
My uncle let me hold it once.

Yeah oplholik, been there my friend. Was in/could of been tighter with some silicon valley big wigs in the 70's if I had a brain. Long story short, I f&^#'d up. Hate remember that period of my life but at least it wasn't a total blunder. Hope your cousin still has the strat.

I kinda doubt it, I haven't asked, but the last offer my uncle had for it that I was aware of was, for $100,000 from someone from Japan.
