Be warned -- as I type this, I still haven't rec'd my first order with my PVs and juices, so we're still smoking cigs as I stalk the USPS.

DH & I both grew up in smoking households so cigs were readily available; my FIL actually died from complications surrounding emphysema. The man was awesome, and the most shameful thing about our smoking is that we saw what smoking did to him (he couldn't go anywhere without a tank of oxygen), but DH & I still kept on puffing. I think if PVs were around and as readily available then as they are now, he might have lived longer.

I smoke about 2 - 2.5 PAD, while DH smokes maybe 1 - 1.5 PAD -- and before we married, he smoked less than that. I'm basically a chimney and it influenced him a bit. I work from home so I'm constantly in front of the computer puffing away.

My mom smoked up until a few weeks ago when she bought a Liberty Sticks starter kit. We kind of waited to see if a PV actually worked for her before starting to research our own PVs (because something that costs the same as cigs and reliance on specific vendors is not our way of doing things). She hasn't smoked a real cig in over three weeks. She kept calling me telling me how she didn't want a regular cig, that she could taste her coffee better, she wasn't getting any side effects, and that she could actually go up a flight of steps without resting half way to catch her breath.

This is what really got me, because it is really embarrassing to duck out of a meeting to go light up, then come back reeking of smoke. I'm a consultant and my clients can definitely hear me wheezing on conference calls from 20+ years of my horrible habit. Even our pets smell of smoke, and I constantly give them baths. We're in a brand new house and the smell of smoke already permeated the vents, as my non-smoking sister smelled the smoke at 5a when the heat kicked on. Non-smoking family members do not want to visit us because we smoke. And due to this economy, we barely afford this habit; even though we buy our cigs from the Indian reservation, we are spending around $300 - 350 per month on analogs.

So earlier this week, I found this wonderful site and started researching. Found out about the deal on the eGo kit on Liberty Flights and bought 2 kits plus some small samples of juice.

Watched a ton of videos, and figured our best setup would be to drip at home and cartos on the go. So placed another order, plus got some regular 510 batts if it turned out we needed that analog feel or if we didn't want to use our eGos in public. Plus ordered more juice samples -- I have a feeling I'm not going to like anything PG based, so mostly got VG based stuff.

Then did some more shopping and bought more juices from Backwoods Brew to sample because even though I love LF's speed of shipping, they really didn't have the flavors we wanted to try in stock. Anyway, most of our juices are 18mg or 24mg, as I figured I'd want the 24mg in the mornings with coffee (and DH could do his smoke breaks at work with that strength) but I could puff all day with the same frequency as my current cig habit with the 18mg. Either way, I think we have enough stuff on order to last us a few weeks.

My goal with this is to eventually DIY, as DH & I are basically tinkerers (he decided he needed more flame out of our BBQ, and drilled the orifices until he was satisfied with the output  -- much to my dissatisfaction and fear he'd blow up the house but our neighbor is a firefighter and did it with him so I'm SOMEWHAT reassured it it won't). The order hopefully will get here today, and I'm already shopping around for flavoring supplies but I really think I just want to find unflavored 24mg VG and 18mg VG at good prices -- not too confident in my ability to cut pure nic mixes right now. My mom is calling me a mad chemist, but I have a feeling I'll send her an eGo kit and some juices if she doesn't hit her goal of being at 0mg and not using a PV altogether in the next month.

Anyway, this site really inspired me and I hope to report the mailman delivered our kit today. You all give such wonderful information to us newbies, and it saved me money with trial and error on my first order. So thank you.

Well, it sounds like you did some good research before you took the leap. The eGo kit is a great decision. I'll bet you're pacing the floor waiting for that darn mailman to drop off your special delivery:) Are you watching out the window?? My guess is that you're going to love it. Sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday evening (and a Sunday morning, afternoon....)

I can sympathize with what you say about your father in law. I watched my grandmother go the same way a few years back. I just keep wondering if it would have been different if this miracle had come along earlier. The doctor kept telling us (in between smoke breaks) that it was the smoking that caused her problems. Sometimes I think watching her having to suffer through that made me more aware of what could ultimately happen if I don't change things. So, I hope it was all for something good.

Let us know if you even break out the 510 kit after you try the eGo. I hooked one up the other weekend to let a friend try it out and it just felt so puny and weak compared to what I've been using. Good luck and congratulations, you're off to a wonderful start.

Enjoy the first evening with your new life!!

Thank you. I'm really the math half and my DH is the science half, so this is a really expensive test to see exactly what is going to work for either of us.

It really killed me to txt DH last night: "bring home enough cigs to last until mon -- kit didn't arrive." He has more faith in USPS than me because instead of bringing home six packs of my M'Reds, he only brought home two packs.

I am absolutely crazed with excitement, and peeking out my window every few minutes looking for the mailman.

That is probably the best way to look at it. I truly believe that if these devices were around when he was still mobile enough, we might still have my DH's dad and your grandmother around today. The man would pull off his oxygen mask to have a smoke, cough up blood, and put it back on. He would tell us to smoke around him during his last few days (with a full tank of oxygen in the room!) just so he could inhale second hand smoke. You think that would be a wake up call to my husband and I, but noooo.... we tried quitting cold turkey for exactly 10 hrs before we gave up and went to the store for more cancer sticks.

I compare the 510 batt to training wheels or a mental trick so we start using the eGo batts faster. I know my DH -- he is probably going to want the 510 batt in public at the beginning until he finally gets frustrated with the low batt life to the point where he'll resign himself to carrying around the eGo batt. I think the 510 batt was a little more than $10 so if that is all I have to spend to do that, it is worth it.

lololololol

This is why I ordered extra batts and attys -- he will definitely use more than one as a guinea pig for an experiment, and I'm sure I'll mourn the loss of them.

Going to check mailbox -- USPS says it is out for delivery but the zip code is showing up incorrect.

I'm starting to calculate the cost of analog packs in the amount of juice I could have bought instead, so I really hope this gets here today or I just "lost" at least 30ml of juice!

You guys have no idea how much sitting here and surfing ECF helps when you're waiting for your first order.

Just to make sure...Did you get a 510 charger for the 510 batteries? The eGo can be charged on the a 510 charger (with extra time), but the 510 cannot be charged on the eGo charger--it'll fry it.

And, oh yes, we do know how much it helps to be here while waiting for that first tast of freedom. Just make sure to let everybody know how you like it!!

I want to repeat what trouble2K said just to make sure you got it. You CANNOT charge the little 510 batteries with the eGo charger. Just so you know for sure. (It sounds like you just bought the 510 batteries without the charger.) And the eGo kits come with 2 e-cigs, but only one charger. You'll get another charger with the second kit. Can't believe they didn't send it!

Good luck with it......you'll be amazed at how easy quitting is going to be........ I'm at 6 1/2 months now...

I love LF but considering it's only coming from a few hundred miles from me... it shouldn't take as long as it does... on average 4 days or so...

I love their prices but they need to restock, there is alot of juices i want to try from them but they are always sold out. mainly a strawberry one and coffee types lol.

and once again DO NOT CHARGE THE 510 IN THE EGO CHARGER

lol last thing you want is a dead battery

I just ordered 510 charger. Thanks for reminding me. :)

FYI, the standard 510 batts aren't here -- they are in my second LF order that hopefully will arrive on Monday. It is really a PITA to share one eGo kit between two people tho.

I think I also flooded my atty, as I keep getting juice on my thumb by the button and my unintentional imitation of a Dyson vacuum cleaner got juice on my mouth.

I do not like this Original Red flavor but it is all I have right now (and a 30 ml bottle on its way to boot). Whoever said it tastes like a fresh pack of smokes smells is 100% correct.

DH & I are perfecting our "Batt Switch" dance... he likes this Original Red while I can't stand it and can't wait until my coffee flavors get here from Backwoods Brew.

zadane, yeah I hear what you are saying but I realize a lot of these places are kind of mom & pop retailers that get overwhelmed during big discount sales, and I'm actually surprised my Liberty Flights order got here this fast. I can see the pack time online and it was about 3 mail days from that date, so that is USPS being slow.

Okay, so here are my Liberty Flights orders so everyone sees what I got for the grand experiment:

Jan 4 2011 ordered; rec'd today Jan 8 2011:

1 - 5ml VG Original Red (Tobacco) - Extra High - 24MG
1 - 5ml VG Original Red (Tobacco) - High - 18MG
2 - White eGo 510 Kits (only rec'd 1 of 2)

Jan 6 2011 ordered; hopefully rec on Mon:

1 - 30ml VG Original Red - Extra High - 24MG (DH seems to like this but I don't)
1 - 5ml PG Koka Koala - High - 18MG (DH requested flavor; they were out of VG of this so ordered PG version for him)
1 - 5ml VG Hotel (Tobacco) - High - 18MG (DH requested flavor)
1 - 5ml VG Silk Blend (Tobacco) - High - 18MG (DH requested flavor)

They didn't have anything non-tobacco flavors that looked interesting for me to try, so went elsewhere for my flavors.

4 - Joye 510 batteries
Forgot to get the charger for them; placing another order for one of them because I don't think they will get used much plus 2 passthru usb cables for the eGo

1 - Joye 510 Cartomizer - White Empty 5 Pack
1 - Boge 510 Cartomizer 2.0 Ohm (Black) - 5 Pack
Cartomizer experiment for DH -- see which ones he likes best and which ones last the longest with his usage while in the car and at work.

1 - White - Blank Cartridge (Flat Tip) - 5 Pack
1 - White - Blank Cartridge (Round Tip) - 5 Pack
Cartridges just in case the cartos go early with two different tips. For DH to see if he prefers refilling these vs. the cartos for his work day.

2 - 510/901 Delrin Drip Tips - Type C
2 - 510/901 Delrin Drip Tips - Type D
Experiment to see which kind of drip tips we like. They were out of the metal ones when I ordered. If we both wind up liking the same kind, no biggie to order more and just use the others as spares.

Not the first full 24hrs yet but I'm still looking for that red box on my desk.

Just remove the atty and blow it out a little into a tissue....don't let juice get into the button, it will short out the battery !

Yeah, I did that and then also grabbed a qtip to clean out whatever accidentally got on the female / batt connector end. Once cleaned, the vapor production significantly improved.

I have a feeling I'm going to go on a cleaning spree tomorrow. I ditched all the ashtrays except two nice ones that are flat yet beveled enough to hold the eGos without the cat trying to bat it to the floor. They are in the dishwasher getting scrubbed out.

I'm coughing quite a bit in between hits as well.
