The bigger thing was to (turn away if you are squeemish) take any garbage bags containing cigarette butts over to my neighbor where he kindly put them in his garbage can, and locked it behind his yard gate. I'm sorry, I'm not scaling a 8 ft fence and possibly dealing with his Rottweiler to get a cig.

I did something similar - I actually called my partner in and we had a little ceremony standing around the trash can and I threw all of my tobacco away. He then took out the trash ;-) Strange that taking out the trash can be such a pivotal experience!! But the "good bye, good riddance" and the realization that I had been smoking trash was a big step for me.

Great story... reminds me of when I started.

DIY really is a lot easier than it sounds... and 100mg nic base from XtremeVaping makes the math easy. It's also makes vaping even cheaper. I figured out my actual baseline expenses in another thread; I've gone from $180+ per month for 'baccy to under $50. If your hubby decides to try modding, check out Madvapes for parts & such.

Thanks... yeah, that is what the goal is. I just don't feel comfortable yet taking 100mg nic and cutting it myself. I think I should start with unflavored VG 24mg & 18mg bottles.

--

Day 2 and I'm starting off with 24mg Original Red with my coffee. Craving this morning for an analog was massive. Every time I switch from 18mg to 24mg, I feel strange.

Should I just stay at 18mg because I'm a frequent vaper?

Nah, do what feels right. I'm at 25mg all day, every day... and perfectly ok with it. If you start mixing your own, you could make some 22mg, or 20mg. If you start DIY'ing, get plain nic at 48mg from ecigexpress (if you're still uncomfortable with the 100mg base). If you start at 24mg plain, by the time you add in flavoring, you're cutting down the nicotine to under 20mg. If you start at a higher nicotine, you've got more wiggle room on the dosage. Plus, if you spill 48mg, it's not strong enough to cause a panic attack, lol.

Don't worry too much about that "weird" feeling... you're still in the learning stages. Probably getting a little too much nicotine, or at least more than you were used to with analogs... but if it keeps you off the stinkies, it's a small price to pay. This too shall pass. Just hang in there, you're doing great!

Reward yourself with a trip to the movies... they're so much more enjoyable when you vape in the theater!

This is really good information... I didn't think about how the flavorings dilute the nic level... had a kind of a "duh" moment. I'm starting to wonder if this batch of 24mg is really higher than that and maybe wasn't cut right. DH isn't having the same issue. He can take either, but the 24mg only means there is a longer time in between vapes. I didn't tell him what level I was dripping into his atty so he could act as my control guinea pig for the experiment.

The other thing is that this bottle of 18mg is really thick consistency while the 24mg is significantly thinner. Both are supposed to be 100% VG.

Thanks for that link, sbk. It explains a lot. I guess what I need to do is just stick with the 18mg and let my body do its thing purging.

I couldn't do that -- I was about to dive in and rescue them, so I just handed the bags to my neighbor after I explained to him what I was doing and he was really supportive. :)

What you are probably craving is all the other stuff they've put into analogs---it will pass.
If the 24mg is making you feel strange, I'd limit what you use, or just stick to the 18mg.

You are probably right. I am probably craving whatever stuff in my brand acted like or was a MAOI. I'm thinking maybe I have to add St John's Wort or something similar to my daily multi-vitamin.

Thought I'd update everyone with progress... cleaned like a madwoman on Sunday, worked from home yesterday (went through about 2ml chain vaping 18mg) and added extra vitamin C & E to my multi-vitamin. I can't tell if it is helping just yet.

It is especially hard in the morning with the "just woke up" / "cup of coffee" / "after breakfast" cravings, but I vape 18mg until it passes (somewhat). I'm going through a lot of juice. Thankfully, the second order arrived yesterday which included DH's tobacco juice selections. I sampled his LF VG Hotel and it is really good as an all day tobacco vape... anyone know what that equivalent is? LF is sold out of it, so I commandeered it from him. :D

I cannot say enough good things about the Boge 2.0 ohm cartos except I wish they made white as well as black ones. They are exactly what I was looking for. Now I have all these unneeded carts and cartos that I guess can serve as backups in between orders. I'm just done ordering hardware for the moment, as I'm waiting on passthrough cables and that 510 charger plus more attys. LF is also hopefully sending out the missing eGo kit as well. We're getting by using one kit but the problem is the evening when both of our batts die and there is only one charger between us.

Again, I want to thank everyone for their support and advice. This forum is awesome.

If you are still having bad cravings as simple as this sounds, make sure you are vaping correctly. It is different from an analog and I feel your pain. I stayed inside my house for the first few days and made sure I went nowhere near a gas station or convenience store. After the first three days (and my BF showing me the correct way to vape) I was doing much better. It has now been over two weeks for us and neither of us wants an analog. (It also helps that we never smoked in our house and with winter here we are not missing having to go outside at all).

Hi Lamer. It sounds like you're off to a great start. It took about 2 months before I stopped craving cigarettes. Sometimes things will trigger my addiction and I'll have a thought that a cig would be really good, but then I realize that it wouldn't be and they do taste like crap now. It does get easier. The thoughts of having a cigarette now are just passing momentary thoughts, not like in the beginning. You'll have cigs totally kicked in no time. Congrats!

Wow, I can't believe it is a week and a half.

I restocked all the juices we liked with 30ml bottles. I can't believe we went through those sample bottles so quickly. DH is mixing 24mg Original Red VG & 18mg Cola PG and doesn't want to try any other flavor. He is positively raving to everyone he knows about how great this is, and I think he converted a co-worker to go order a kit. I got one of my friends to do it as well.

On the other hand, I found out anything with dominant PG makes the inside of my mouth feel like sandpaper coated with sugar. When I brush my teeth, sometimes my gums bleed and I don't know if it is related to that. I really can't wait until the VG juices get here. I also discovered it was probably a bad idea to continue vaping anything coffee related after 6pm. My insomnia is really acting up this week.

Also, I think I spent about $100 stocking up on DIY flavoring supplies, so hopefully I can try out some recipes and make my own Cafe Mocha if I can find the right chocolate. My goal is to mix something simple and see if 20mg will kill the nic fits a bit better... have this strange feeling I'm in between a 18mg and 24mg... of course it can't be simple, lol. All I know is that I'm going through 18mg juice really quickly.

I thought I was done buying equipment but LF is getting in the eGo tank and I really want to try that out. I'm dripping, but it is a bit annoying with the adult proof caps on these bottles.

The cravings are starting to lessen in frequency now; I had a stressful work call and I put the phone on mute so they wouldn't hear my atty sizzling, as I really wanted a cig badly that I actually couldn't get the thought out of my head. It really works... each time I think about it or get that craving, I just vaped through it.

We decided when I finally stop buying stuff that we'll take the money we spent on cigs each month and put it away so we can go on a vacation on our 1 year anniversary of not smoking.

Thank you all for checking up on me... I feel confident that this should work, and I still can't believe I haven't smoked a cig in a week and a half.

That is actually fairly common, and probably not PG related. The "sandpaper" feeling can be from quitting smoking (healing and/or loss of the sugar in cigarettes) or not drinking enough water when you vape. Bleeding gums often happens when your gums start to heal after smoking cessation. Take a look at this list: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...hen-quitting-tobacco-changing-ecigarette.html
