Effective June 2011, Carnival cruise ships will only permit smoking in their jazz clubs, dance clubs, designated smoking areas of casinos, designated smoking areas of casino bars, and the outdoor starboard (right) side of the ship. Effective December 2011, all guest staterooms must be 100% smoke-free. Here's the terrible part: e-cigarettes are banned outside of the designated smoking areas.
Carnival is a private company, so I wouldn't classify this as a law, only a rule/policy. They have the right to regulate these types of activities onboard their ships, but it doesn't mean that what they are doing is right.
What do you guys think about this? The last time that I went on a Carnival cruise was in Summer 2007. Smoking was permitted in the casino and the outdoor starboard side of the ship, but e-cigarettes, which were fairly new at the time, were not mentioned in the smoking policy.
