Just got mine today. Just set the wattage and go. It adjusts to each carto's resistance as needed. vaping away nice and smooth. Real nice so far. I like the ability to adjust the settings in the software and program the eVic as well.

Can you please do a review or not even a review, just demonstrate it for us on youtube, pretty please???

After I use it for a few days I will try and write up some impressions. On first use it's easy to get the swing of the menu system. It's puts out good vapor. With a 2.8 ohm cartomizer you can get it to put out about 8.7 watts. I imagine more with a higher ohm cartomizer. For me that's plenty of power. My house is filled with plumes of vapor.

Yeah, i know, i made the beginner's mistake. But i just wanted to test the protection functionality of the eVic.

I drained the battery too far in my eVic and now it won't charge anymore. The eVic was indicating the 'Low Voltage' message and 10 remaining puffs. I was under the impression that it would shut itself down before reaching the dangerous battery Voltage level, but it didn't. I turned it off myself when it indicated only 1 puff left, took the battery out, put it on my charger. The charger indicated a full batt with its green light. Re tried it, same result. Then i put the battery back in the eVic and tried to charge it with the USB. No luck.
So it seems my Samsung battery that came along with the eVic is dead. It seems that there's only a warning in the eVic via its screen, but no protection shut off.

So people, don't rely on the eVic shutting off in time to save your battery and don't drain it. Learn from this sucker here!! :(
(Luckily my Panasonic batts arrived yesterday...) :)

If there is no dynamic wattage adjustment then this is just a manual variable-voltage device. The resistance of a single atomizer will vary over time by a few tenths of an ohm or more. I would expect a variable-wattage device to automatically adjust the voltage to maintain the same wattage.

In looking at the OVALE website, where I ordered from, nowhere does it state dynamic variable-wattage. It does state "Variable voltage or wattage control" ... bummer. I was hoping that it was dynamic variable-wattage.

On the other hand it does state "low voltage protection" so Vappa I would expect it to actually shutoff at some low battery threshold. Revision needed there for sure.

Re-try it and be sure you have a different resistance carto. Mine doesn't adjust the Voltage when putting a new device on it. I have to go through the whole menu again. It would be very strange when each device has its own behaviour. And i'm sure there's no V1.1 Firmware yet for the eVic.

You can vary the wattage, based on the original creators of the device, and it's called Smart Wattage System. You set the wattage to what you normally like and it will automatically adjust the voltage to that based on the detected Ohms of the carto and from what I hear it's pretty spot on. I have my joyEtech one coming in next week and will install the firmware update from them which is said to fix that battery issue. I hear they have another update coming out to fix another issue but can find very little information about it.

What firmware update? I cannot find any newer version than the 1.0 that's already in the eVic, look here. Can you show me a link for this new version?

Hmm, they pulled it down it appears and changed out the site. There was a site that would show the different versions and 1.1 was clickable and went to a download site. I downloaded it and see when I get home if I can get it up on the download site but it is a locked file and has been set to only work on the official JoyETech device locked out by serial number. If you can break the hex code lock then I believe it should work on the evic. NOTE: Not official from JoyETech, just from what I read from one of the korean sites after translated. If incorrect I will update ASAP.

They need to fix two issues already and its barely out? Id be a little concerned at this point even if there is a firmware fix for it.

To me that says its wasnt tested very well internally before being released to the public.

At least they can fix the software issues on the fly unlike so far any other ecig I have seen. I like it and hope this becomes the norm for others so we don't have to buy a whole new PV to get new features that should have been included. Will not cost us the extra hundred or two to get things like proper battery protection so they don't drain them to 0 and cause them to explode. An issue with some V1 devices that were new to the market, a few big named ones also.

You are correct. You have to go into the menu and re-read the atomizer setting or just power it off and then back on again which is ez also.

To me right off the bat it reminds me of new video games. Why make sure it works fine when you can patch problems down the road?

That said, I'm not talking trash on the eVic. Just reminded of a slightly similar situation.

Rushing new products to the market before they are ready seems to be the Chinese business model.

didnt know microsoft is made in china
I don't think you can say this is a problem only to do with the Chinese, we have seen things being released, in the computer world and within a very short time a new software fix, firmware update is available.

I know it may be a bit annoying but this is how it has always been nothing new, at least they are trying to address issues instead of just ignoring them.

That is the one big + the eVic has, and the only reason I'm willing to try one. If I weren't getting one at a co-op price, I wouldn't try it at all until it was on the market for a while and proven to be reliable.

Unlike any other PV this one can area issues with software updates rather than changing the hardware

Would anyone ever come to think that maybe, just maybe that the firmware was already updated and put out across the devices...Its just a thought.
At least the firmware can be updated, I don't have to buy the latest and greatest and a bonus if I can put a picture of my puppy dog on it at boot up... :)

I have ordered a Joye eVic through a co-op and I had no clue we can change the boot image. Lol e-Cig backgrounds. Who will have the 1st site up with them?

Just remember software updates can be good and bad. Let someone else test them 1st :)
