As far as I can tell, most of the shortcomings can be addressed with a firmware update. And even as is, as a vv not vw...it works well and for the price that I paid 65, its ok. But I know updates to the firmware will fix a lot of what is wrong. And if not, I have friends who can easily hack something as simple as this device.

I had to laugh out loud at this one but you know, an MP3 Player with a Micro SD slot wouldn't be to bad....hmm an all in one device. Phone/MP3 player/VV VW ecig/flashlight/etc.

That is when we can officially say, enough is enough. :D

Why anyone would buy a version 1 of this unit is crazy in my opinion,,, dont ya know there gonna get a ton of you this way then release v2,,and then get you again :),, then there going to get another whole bunch on the updates, pfffttttt,,, I would wait till version 3-4 at least,,,, plus the price will plummet as soon as the other manufactures get a hold of it and tear it apart and build there own for half the price then what JOY/Ovale/Janty is charging,, oh ya remember the Ego, how many copies of that are there now ?, then one of the manufactures will improve it even more, I've been at it long enough to have seen this one come and go enough times by now,,,, I say yield, wait, just MHO.

Waiting for some may be the right decision. I got mine yesterday and so far am very happy with it. I don't change resistance much so powering down and up the unit again to reset the power is a minor thing for me. Maybe it will be addressed in software updates, maybe it won't. Of course there will be new versions just like the cell phone companies who come out with a newer better unit every month. You can wait and wait or just decide when is best for you. I wanted to be first, so I took the risk.

I am sure there will be copies but I would suggest getting an authentic Joyetech or Ovale Unit. Just like your cell phone each unit carries and unique serial number and the software updates, from what I understand, will only update authentic units from that manufacturer. For example an update signed for the Joye unit will not update the Ovale and vice-a-versa. I am sure hackers can figure out how to by-pass this but I prefer having the authentic unit.

I'm not so sure it would be hacked. The market is just too small for anyone to bother with it. Look how long it took for the hackers to bother with Apple.

This is the first device on the market that can be upgraded from your computer. Unless the circuit board is changed, there should be no reason to rush out and buy another. I go for the origination Joyetech, and made darn sure my Twist wan't a fake.

Doesn't matter they're all from China,I have a bootleg twist and works as good as the original.

In regards to knock offs, a product is only as good as it's weakest component. KO's use things like hot glue instead of solder, and refurb lipos instead of new cells. non anodized aluminum. If you get one that lasts you are lucky. there is also the production rate. Joyetech can run off 10k units in one hour for the KO's and take 6 hour for the "BRANDED" units for a lower rate of defect.

I think it'll be a good product...not concerned by some apparent glitches. I should be getting mine tomorrow...can't wait...seems like a pretty cool gadget. And with free upgrades to the firmware, I'm sure all issues will be resolved in a timely manner. Not sure why some folks are jumping ship from one review

You will be very happy with it. It's a quality unit that Vapes great!

If everyone would follow your example and not buying a V1 of any PV, there won't be a version 2 or 3 or whatever. And tell me, how would you know if something just s*cks or not if you don't try it? You might be happy with some crazy guy that bought this v1 and read his review. Not?
So, stupid crazy me for buying this eVic too soon, giving my opinion about it and help the community and maybe trigger a v1.1 of the firmware this way.

The eVic cannot be compared one-by-one with the other types you're referring to. This one can be upgraded via firmware, so you don't need to buy a new device to get the v2. And yeah, i know that only counts for software-related issues.

Call me crazy! I'm getting one, an not waiting for version XXX to come out. Why? Because Joyetech seems to put out good products, and the fact that V1.1 is a computer download.
