Well today while on the run my tank cracked, Stopped by the local vape store and picked up a mini protank 2, so I wouldn't have to run all the way home to get my bigger protank. Kinda over paid for it...

CAM00100.jpg

Granted, it means being organized, but I pay $6.99 for a 30ml bottle of juice, and the price goes down if you buy even bigger, like $39.99 for 236ml - free shipping over $50 bucks, always a 10% off code available. They charge $14.99 for that Mini Protank (still not the best price)

This is why I don't even look for B&Ms, what a rape job~! Even giving them a 30% mark-up over MBV's prices, it would have only been $28.60 or there abouts.

Just think of it as your support for your local vape shop.

I just bought a PT 2 for about $26.00 specifically to support my local vape store. I don't even really have a need for it. I've got a Kayfun clone coming in vape mail....If I can learn to rebuild decently on it, it will probably become my daily driver...

Why support someone that is screwing you? Consider this? The B&M *should* be able to buy at a lower price than you or I on the internet, but let's pretend they pay what we know to be the best prices we can find? Then, give them a 30% mark-up for the convenience of a walk-in store, no waiting, and all of that.

I wouldn't b*tch about that in the slightest - but the poor OP got completely raped, and somehow I don't think he'll go back anytime soon.

I don't mind buying juice or tanks from my local B&Ms. One charges me 8$ for 15ml of Mt Baker (only 3$ mark up) and I can get Protank Mini's for 19$ instead of 14$ online. It's convienent.

What I will never buy from a B&M is equipment or batteries. Both local shops want 70$ for the MVP 2 I paid 40$ for. They're charging 120$+ for a 134, and 100$+ for a VTR. 60$+ for an SID. That's outrageous lmao.

How about supporting your resident ECF smart aleck? ----->(me)

I know you don't even need me to comment here... but here I am! :D

I've got overhead to deal with (taco bell, comcast).

PM me and I'll give you the paypal to send $100 to.

Thank you, and have a nice day!

Wow do any of you know how tough it is to keep a brick and mortar open
....in comparison to keeping an online shop open?

You need 1 full time 40h/week employee and one part time closer. Both will want around $9-10 an hour for open/closing. The full time employee will require life insurance, health care, and pension, social security, workman's comp, and unempl. The full time employee's wage will be around $35,000 a year. The PT employee's will be around $15,000 a year. The FT employee's health and benefits and taxes will cost you around $6,300 + employment taxes/liabilities. ($3k) So your up to around $59,300 a year to pay/care for your two employees (that want a raise, by the way!)

Now don't forget your renting a booth in the mall. Thats around 4k per 6 month contract. Thats another $8k a year. Don't forget your $150 business license. That raises your overhead to $67,450 for your little mall kiosk. (Obviously renting or financing an entire building is going to cost you a bit more, but we'll go with this example)

So the next time you stop by your brick and mortar store for a $20 protank, remember, that $20 is well appreciated. Thats probably going to wind up being $2 dollars towards the profit at the end of the fiscal quarter after expenses are paid.

Half of the online vendors employ NO ONE! (Or they use family members to help with shipping) and some of them do it illegally, without even taking out a business license. Talk about greedy :p That doesn't help the economy or job market at all.

if something is the same price as online with next day shipping, ok, beyond that, ehhhhhh.

Next day shipping doesn't mean next day getting. Or today getting - which is what the OP needed. If you expect that convenience to not have a price don't ever walk into a store again.

Lesson learned. Don't shop there.

Another lesson: not all B&M's charge that much, and to lump all B&M's together is a choice to be ignorant. Glad you were able to get your rant out. Sorry you actually chose to pull out your wallet and hand the clerk your money, when you could've simply said no thank you and walked out the door.

Curious: why DID you choose to pay that money?

Oh how the hate-r-aid is flowing.

Not much more than a week ago my local B&M employed a guy to sit and show me how to wrap a coil for 30 minutes or so. In return I purchased SS mesh $9.99, 32ga kanthal $15.99, 2 iclear30s heads $2.49 each, and some organic cotton balls $1.99.

My purchase I'm fairly sure didn't pay for his time, especially after my military discount (10%).

I will buy from them again, as often as I can considering what they carry.

Their shop is about 2400 square foot of space and run by 3 employees that I presume are close to full time.

Yearly shop lease is $28,800.00, at minimum wage here your looking at $45,240.00 in paying your employees, then we have to keep the lights on for what might be only $316.00 for the year with 30 40w overhead lights running 8 hours a day, replacing lights that burn out might run about the same so tack on another $316.00, shop equipment including tables, local art, chairs, display cases, shelving, the sign outside, receipt paper, tester atomizers, the little condom thingies, paper towels, cards, free junk they give away, etc. all cost money.

Oh, and somewhere in there is the owners profit margin, that's assuming he or she isn't in debt up to their nose having financed all of the stuff that went into opening the shop in the first place.

In most B&M shops, you can expect that the owner is working too, covering call ins or vacation time employees ask for, at no hourly wage.

So my little shop has to charge $204.58 a day over and above product cost to them just to stay open, prior to the owner making the first dime, so at a 30% markup that's $415.98 in product daily or $151,417.38 in product per year prior to earning a single red penny.

Is it fair to charge what they do, yes, without a doubt it is.

At the very minimum the shop is employing a few people that would otherwise be flipping burgers or changing tires, maybe selling cars, or what have you. Their paying taxes just like anyone else who works for a living and not sucking on the breast of social support.

I'll pay for that, those folks that work in and own a B&M are working for my money, not standing in a line waiting to get it for nothing.
