Breaking my ECF cherry here...

A few weeks ago, I received an inLife e-cig starter kit as a gift (knowing what I do now, I'm glad I didn't pay for it!) It wasn't ideal, but it was enough to get me to stop smoking analogs almost completely and seek out this forum. I have read many of the AMAZING threads and seen lots of great instructional and informative videos for noobs like me, and I'll continue to do for a few weeks while I research and try out the best e-cig combos for me. In the meantime, I'm THIS close to ordering a Joye EGO starter kit, because I want to take a vape on upcoming trip and to have something to puff on while I do my e-cig research.

I'm sure all of these questions have been asked and answered before, and I've probably read them, but I'm making sure I've understood everything...ANY help would be appreciated! I have a feeling this will be the first of many newbie threads I'll be posting!

If it helps you answer my questions, I am a slightly-less-than-half-a-pack-a-day smoker of Camel full-flavored cigarettes. I care about: ease of maintenance/refilling, price, throat hit strength, "real" cigarette tobacco flavor. I don't care about the physical appearance of the e-cig.

1. I have chosen the Joye EGO510 (for now) which comes with manual eGo 650 mAh batteries. How long should I expect a charge to last? Doesn't it depend on how much I use it? I don't understand the sites and posts that say a charged battery should last all day, when the usage can vary a great deal between different users (I smoke about 15 cigarettes a day). Also, how long does it take this battery to charge? How long will the battery itself last me?

2. What is the difference between standard and low resistance atomizers? Which kind is the Joye510?

3. The JoyeEGO510 starter kit comes with 5 tobacco cartridges - are these refillable? Whether they are or aren't, should I order the refilling supplies along with my starter kit? I DO have a choice between ordering pre-filled carts and refilling them myself, right? People generally refill their own because it is a LOT cheaper that way, correct? How difficult is it to refill the JoyeEGO510 carts?

4. What is "Atomizer Dipping" and "Atomizer Dripping"/What are drip tips for?

That's a good enough start...I am so overwhelmed by all the info out there and am grateful this forum exists!

My hubby can make his 650 battery last for over a day before charging, and charge it while you sleep (that way you don't miss it)

2. What is the difference between standard and low resistance atomizers? Which kind is the Joye510?
If it doesn't SAY it's low res, then it's not - on an EGO battery a LR would be a "warmer" vape.

3. The JoyeEGO510 starter kit comes with 5 tobacco cartridges - are these refillable? Whether they are or aren't, should I order the refilling supplies along with my starter kit? Yes - they are refillable, I used to soak mine in warm water (or vodka) blow them out then soak some more until I couldn't smell the original flavor anymore (most people fill their own because they can't stand the taste that come in the original Cartridges.

4. What is "Atomizer Dipping" and "Atomizer Dripping"/What are drip tips for?
Drip tips make it easier to drip, having a wide opening at the mouth. And, Dripping produces IMO better flavor and vapor than Cartridges or Cartomizers (this is MY opinion though. Whether you drip or not is a personal choice. Dripping is when you don't have a cartomizer, or cartridges, and drip juice directly onto the atomizer itself. I went to dripping 1 month after I started vaping, and have really never looked back. My hubby just started 2 weeks ago, almost 90 days after he started vaping - and has already made the comment that he doesn't like the flavor as much on the cartomizer as he does w/ dripping.

Egos IMHO are very a very reliable product, and even though I have 2 mods, I still ended up buying another EGO battery when I lost mine, because I DO like them :)

That's a good enough start...I am so overwhelmed by all the info out there and am grateful this forum exists!

I use the eGo style, but use a Riva set up. Liberty flights has them for a great price- I use Riva because they are a higher voltage, and I can tell the difference. I much prefer it to the eGo.

BUT, they are basiclly the same thing :)

and yes, get you some flavors, and some blank carts. they will be worth it :) I would order my flavors from a different company though- :)

1 Mine can last me more than two days but I'm a "light" vaper compared to others. Really you should expect a full day unless you're seriously heavily vaping. I've got no complaints on how long the ego battery lasts for its size. It takes about 3 hours from flashing empty to fully charge for me.

2 low resistance is just a bit hotter. I prefer it for tobacco flavours or really strong flavours. It dulls the flavour a little I find, especially if they were weaker flavours to begin with.

3 Sure, they're refillable. They're easy. you just take out the wadding in the cart, rinse them off, dry them, put eliquid in and you're good to go. If it's the same flavour you're using then just take it off the atomizer and refill it with liquid. Couldn't be easier.

4 Dripping is ignoring your cartidge and simply dripping eliquid straight onto the atomizer coil. Drip tips are so you can do that without having to take off the cartidge each time. They're for convenience really. You should have a more flavourful experience dripping but it's got a bit of a learning curve to it.

The ego is pretty good, I have one and use 510s to drip with and can't complain. I also have the tank style atomizers for the ego that I think are more convenient than the normal cartridge styles but they're a bit of a love-hate thing for me and they have a really mixed review.

You're making a good decision going for an ego as a step up from the smaller ecigs. You shouldn't regret it. Welcome to the forum and good luck!

My Ego batterys last about 3 hours max. but I am a chain vapor. The Ego kits are great, mine is 6 months old and the batteries are still working. I do have 4 batteries and rotate them, 2-750mAh and 2-900mAh batteries. And yes you can refill the carts. I have a friend that is all she uses, but I like Boge cartomizers and clearomizers better because they hold more liquid and less time filling, but like I said I vape alot.

1. 650mah is 6.5 hours of moderate vaping with a standard resistance atomizer or cartomizer (if you use LR of either it will vape hotter and use charge faster). It will still hold its charge pretty well if you are not vaping it - I have a 750mah Riva 510 and if I mostly vape my slim ecigs and only vape the Riva 510 1-3 cigs worth per day, it lasts me all week

2. See above. Joye Ego can use either though some people think it's safest not to go below 2.0ohms LR with sealed batteries and only go lower with "mods" that have small batteries that remove for charging like a flashlight.

3. Carts are refillable a long time but you have to clean/dry/restuff them occasionally. But be sure to have spare atomizers since they can degrade or die. Buy juice with your kit. Besides refilling, you can use the juice to help you get the nasty-tasting primer out of the atty. Most people are unsatisfied w/ atty+cart experience after a few weeks then start using cartomizers and/or dripping. Cartomizers (combined screw-on cart and atomizer in one piece) would be a recurring expense - only put juices you like in cartomizers and keep them damp to get 4-14 days+ good use out of each (some people succeed in cleaning/drying them = don't count on it). With a fairly thin juice I can get 2 weeks+ out of a Boge 510 carto. I am actually on my 7th week with one I used a thin clear juice on (which is like 3.5 weeks since I alternate 2 cartos) but it's performance is down and I should retire it.

4. Why drip? Good for testing juice samples, and some people like to vape that way.

Note - there is a LOT of Ego stuff and it does not all fit together - different girth atomizers for example - the skinny 510 ones that use 510 carts or drip tip, the fatter Ego ones that use Ego Mega(??) carts and drip tip (I don't know for sure but you will need to know) Ditto for the tank attys I think - 2 girths and and the smaller one can only use small tanks.

Oh my gosh, you guys are freaking awesome.

What does that mean, "an eGo style but use a Riva set up"? What makes you prefer the Riva?

and yes, get you some flavors, and some blank carts. they will be worth it :) I would order my flavors from a different company though- :)

Different from liberty flights, you mean? (That happens to be the site I was going to buy from.) What site do you like? Would it matter anyway since I'm not looking for any flavors other than plain old Camel/Marlboro/etc tobacco blends?

What do you mean by "hotter" - the smoke is hotter? I plan on smoking strong tobacco flavors - not really interested in most of the flowery, exotic blends at all at the moment - should I look into an LR atomizer? Which do you like?

3 Sure, they're refillable. They're easy. you just take out the wadding in the cart, rinse them off, dry them, put eliquid in and you're good to go. If it's the same flavour you're using then just take it off the atomizer and refill it with liquid. Couldn't be easier.

Ah, so you do refill and use the drip technique with the JoyeEGO510? Or did you purchase the EGO Tank atomizer separately and use that with the 650mAh battery?

You're making a good decision going for an ego as a step up from the smaller ecigs. You shouldn't regret it. Welcome to the forum and good luck!

Thanks, I am really looking forward to turning all my friends on to vaping. For once, I won't be a bad influence...

What is a clearomizer? Can you use Boge cartomizers with the EGO510? Are cartomizers sold in "sizes" - rather, how do I know if the cartomizer I'm buying will fit my Ego?

Thanks so much for replying!

Look at some of the vendor sites for clearomizers. They are clear so you can see how much juice is in them all the time and with a little research you can find out how to clean them and bring them back like new, the only problem with them now is, the clear tubes crack after a while and will leak juice. If the do just throw them and use a new one, they cost no more that a regular cartomizer and I like them. You do need a syringe and needle to fill them and learn how to do it but its not hard to do after the first time, they come with instructions. You normaly get a plastic needle with a pack of 5, but you can metal ones from alot of the vendors or pet supply or farm supply, get 18 gage needles (works best for me). Yes to can use 510 Boge carto's on the Ego 510. As for sizes If you have a (510) Ego or Riva battery anything that says (510) will work on it. They do have longer cartomizers but I like the standards. If you buy clearomizers I would get the XL's (Extra Large) They hold more E-liquid than the standard and last a long time and have no filler inside you can see everything.
Boge carto's are great too they just don't last as long before you need to top off. Hope I answered you questions if not just ask again. Glad to help

It's the threading, not size that is important. So - if you want to use Boge Cartomizers, make sure you nab some that are 510s - the clearomizers will work, but an EGO cone will NOT fit over them (however a Riva cone will) depends on if you mind it looking kinda funky or not :)
