The 510 passthrough has a battery inline, and can indeed be unplugged and keep vaping with it. It's an e-cigar battery, I believe the same one used in the JantyStick or roughly equivalent in mAh, ~360mAh IIRC. (basically double the runtime of most regular e-cig batteries)

As in, does it charge the e-cigar battery inside the pass-through when not vaping? Yes, it does. Some 510 PT kits have gone out with weak/not fully charged batteries apparently, 'cured' by plugging it in for a bit into USB.

If this is meant to contrast to the JS, you do have the same effect if you want it. Unplug the PT, stuff in picket and leave connected to your 510 atty and mouthpiece. Not as convenient, as you have a wired connection to the USB PT battery still, but works fine.
