Yeah, it's a hard thread to follow, particularly if you skim it. (Ask Dusty).

Basically, there was some "Best of 2014" poll, and there was this other vaping site that marshalled their puny might to stuff the ballot box, and they "unseated" ECF as the best vaping forum", and then totally dissed ECF in their typical "Nyah nyah ne nyah nyah" style, and some folks who really like this site got upset at the gloating, both on their site and on other social-media sites.

I had the same confusion, but the OP wasn't talking about ECF, he was talking about the vaping community at large, and how to the public we, as a whole, came off looking like a bunch of (insert appropriate scatological reference here)'s.

Well, after sleuthing just a bit I think I understand where you are coming from Midnight. It saddens you that the hype hounds seem to be promoting a vaping 'Wild Hunt' of sorts...
Seeing the Wild Hunt was thought to presage some catastrophe such as war or plague, or at best the death of the one who witnessed it. Mortals getting in the path of or following the Hunt could be kidnapped and brought to the land of the dead. A girl who saw Wild Edric's Ride was warned by her father to put her apron over her head to avoid the sight. Others believed that people's spirits could be pulled away during their sleep to join the cavalcade.

I'd like to say don't worry, it'll pass, but unfortunately today's unthinking sheeple buy that kind of stuff much as the medieval folk feared the Hunt. The environment here is more suited to thinking folk. Let them dance around their own bonfire but lets hope they don't burn down the vaping community at large in their revels.

BlkWolfMidnight, I think I get what you are saying, but am reminded of something my grandfather gave me. He tried to teach me that those who always have to be right are often really just afraid of being wrong.

I didn't understand it at the time, but have since learned to politely smile when those situations arise and move on.

It's not "sweeping it under the rug" as I see it, but rather it's not giving credence or legitimacy to the poor soul.

As far as "2014 Awards" are concerned,IMHO they are just opinion polls or popularity contests. Not really interested in that kind of thing, as that's not what I'm here for. Good for those who like them, just not my cup of tea so to speak. Therefore, I don't read or participate. There is so much more here in the forum that I'm definitely not missing anything by not partaking in a tiny little corner of the activities that some others might like.

I understand your concern, but really don't think (again, just MHO) that there's an immediate need for any worry. The vast majority of the forum is helpful, friendly, supportive and fun.

Just my 2c worth. You are certainly welcome to see things differently. :)

CAREFUL! - That bit of popcorn has been proven to promote tooth decay, which can lead to....

BlkWolfMidnight I'm so glad you started this thread. I can understand some folks point of view of holding the high ground but this is just out of hand. This latest childish knockout thing coupled with what was pulled with the Aspire thing is just damaging the vaping community. It is fine if you want to be an .... at your own BBQ just don't hop over the fence and start acting like a ...... on my lawn.

Not only are these types of acts damaging, a simple idiot can't subject his own wishes and desires on others. I don't know what the entire story is between these folks and what went down, but judging by their behavior I can see why a ban was put on them. They are resorting to underhanded tricks and playing games from manufacturers to the larger community at hand.

I have been hitting the site for the deals page, but honestly 15 million hits and taking a day off? Wow I bet ECF had 10 million hits a day. I will vote with what hurts most. The site will not be visited by me any more, honestly some of the stuff he has started to push is junk. I will find deals at other location and maybe if more of us did this he would need another 32 years to reach another 15 million hits.

All this is stupid, the community should be solid, we are facing regulations coming up, and if any one has any delusions about that then they are in fantasy land just like Joe. Giving feed to the demon, to settle a score with his friend. {Moderated}

I too was guilty of looking and figure the same as you. The deals posted there are just found around the net and reposted. Nothing special at all about them. When I have looked at the other site, I see people that have been banned from not only this forum but, many if not all others. They may just be glad that someone will actually allow them to be there. Some of the childish posts about the moderators here over there also tells the tale of people that do not know how to behave like adults in public. Many seem to be proud of that fact. Kind of reminds me of name calling and nanny, nanny boo boos in grade school lol

Neither site will ever get another single hit from my key board again. Thanks for making that point.

I honelstly dont see any drama here at all

I think you're where I am. ... This is the only forum I go to, so I don't know about what all is going on at other forums.

I imagine that people leave one place to go start another one more to their liking, and then bad mouth the one they just left

Naw, you want some good times...
Jiffy Pop and a campfire, sitting around a crisp evening as the sun sets over the horizon. Your friends chatter about the days hike and events, a laugh or two escapes as the story of one falling in to the stream only to realize that a crayfish had taken interest in his finger at the same time of attempting to escape the water. The smell of hickory and oak slowly drifts though the campsite as the golden hue grows dim. The first few pops are subtle at best but then increase in frequency as the pan heats up, a soft simmer as the butter on the bottom melts and begins to coat those golden kernels in butter. You and your friends sit around eagerly awaiting the moment the top splits open revealing a treasure of wonderfully popped popcorn for all to enjoy.

That's the best I can do on verbal imagery for you at the moment, I shall enjoy the moment of that picture with a smile and a vape.

I read this whole thread and I came away with a few pearls:

1) I kinda want a campfire smoke flavored ejuice now. I don't know if I should thank you or not for that BlkWoldMidnight.

2) I don't need a microwave to make popcorn anymore. "Hear that microwave? I don't need you anymore. You can take your fancy 'popcorn' button and shove it!"

3) I learned my GF's mind is in the gutter bc when I tried to explain how to turn a mod into a "Flashlight" she heard something else entirely.

And most importantly,

4) I don't need an internet popularity contest to tell me what's the best vaping forum on the net. I'm a member of the best forum. Why am I a member here? Because never, not once, did I feel like an outsider. As soon as I made my first post, you people came out of the proverbial woodwork to make sure I was getting what I wanted and needed. We are here, because we have chosen to enhance our lives by not smoking; by making the safer, healthier choice. I do not see much around these threads that doesn't DIRECTLY support that one golden, shining goal.

That's what matters. We help each other. Support each other. Give advice to each other, and make each other laugh.
This forum is like a neighborhood bonfire, the others are... well, they're not. I "might" even say some are like parties I wouldn't feel safe letting my GF go to alone.
I suppose, if it were important, we could have flooded the ballet with "ECF is 2014" votes, but I have the feeling that we were probably doing something a little more important than deciding who was going to be prom queen. If you want to know what that was, go lurk around in the New Members forum amongst the 1.75M posts and the 121,000 threads. That's what we were doing.

Anyway, just my $.02, although I live in the Bahamas so it's more like my $.0156 but that's a little wordy to say. And now I've ruined my exit by continuing to ramble on about rambling on...

Keep vaping...
