Both atomizers soaked in Rubbing Alcohol for about 5 minutes only--paint bubbled & blistered and came loose, so I had to clean both of them up, now they are stainless steel looking.

What did I do wrong?

Your Not Suppose to Use Any Cleaners. Just Warm Water......

Forgot To Add: Final Rinse In Distilled Water

I Have Had The Paint Come Off As Well With Just Really Hot Water, Vinegar, Alcohol and Other Cleaners (Not At The Same Time, 5 Different Brands/Styles). I Think The Paint May Be Hazardous, Little Tiny Pieces Getting Through, So Rinse Well.

No One Has Stated What Paint They Use In The Atoms But I am Sure Its Not Good.....

That is what I was doing until I read about the alcohol cleaning somewhere here :-(

At this point in the game there really isn't one perfect method for cleaning them. From the various forum postings on the topic, what we have is a collection of methods that work for some and not for others. I'm still waiting for the day that one is guaranteed to work and not kill or shorten the life of the atty.

my earliest RN4075 would not peel, I'd have to take 80 grit sandpaper to get that paint off. Now a drop in boiling water will bubble all the paint on any of the units I bought at Ruyan direct. It's not a big deal, I use them on black battery box mods, and the black and stainless actually looks nice, but I imagine all the folks with pink and purple ones don't like it much.

It really looks like that the paint is coming off your other atomizers here in the photos--so it must be a really bad paint job--I have never had that happen in the many soultions I have used--------Sun

i have actually been looking for a way to make my gear stainless steel... hmmm... how to do the battery now....

I just tried cleaning of the paint on a black broken passthru battery and here is what takes the paint down to the metal:

Put some Acetone or Acetone Nail Polish Remover on an old cloth and rub. Took the black paint right off!

If you are going to do this, make sure not to get any into the battery though!!!!!!!! AND DO NOT vape OR SMOKE NEAR THE ACETONE...HIGHLY FLAMMABLE LIQUID!

DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I've had paint chip of in boiling water........

The first time I boiled my atty, I removed it with a metal tong.
The atty slipped out of the grip of the tong, back into the water and it scratched parts of the paint off.
I was not happy, but it was a lesson learned! (& one I should have anticipated! LOL)
