Started smoking when I was 14 or 15, probably like many do .... swiping a pack of my dad's smokes thinking he wouldn't notice. Yea, right.:glare:

Many years later, unfortunately my daughter has done the same. My rants and lectures on how bad smoking is fell on deaf ears as I was nothing more than a hypocrite smoking 2-3 packs a day while trying to tell my girl not to do what I was.

Yesterday thought I was going nuts. Looked everywhere throughout the house, the patio, the car... couldn't find that sample bottle of AVE Hype that came in last week, or the mini viva that was filled with it. My adult kid came home from work, she stills lives with us .... vaping on my Hype filled Viva! Told me she noted how both me & Mom quit smoking, so she wanted to try it too!

Wasn't at all happy with her sneaking my cigs, probably just like my Dad was with me so long ago. But this is different. Guess I'll have to double my juice orders, get some new mods

Between this thread and reading a bunch of FMLs tonight i am doubly determined not to have children.

I'm kidding. Sorta.

How old is she? Make her spring for her own stuff. I mean what the hell. Clearly she works. Put the information into her hands and lock up your own stuff.

ETA: I'm of the opinion that your smoking habits are largely irrelevant. It's simultaneously your fault, but it isn't. Either you normalized it by smoking or you'd have made her loathe it instead. There's no reason to guilt yourself over it. But she's grown up now. And while yeah, getting an inexpensive starter kit for your loves ones is one thing, I don't feel like you should have to supply her from a vague sense of guilt. that's all I'm saying.

See, I've never thought that was any more hypocritical than a 1-armed-man urging little Johnny to stay away from the meat thresher.

That's great news though! She may have snuck it, but hey, if she's interested in vaping, then more power to you both! Personally, I would probably hook her up on some basic supplies to at least keep her into it while she's testing the waters for herself.

Yea, ordering a few more mini vivas, she likes those, along with a few patterned and colored spinners. I'll let her dip into m juice stash so she can see what she likes .... then my little birdy has to fly on her own :)

Well, if she likes what she is using of yours, then ya might as well give it to her to save her the hassle of trial and error. Give her your list of vendors. This is actually a really good story :D

Actually, its pushing me in a new direction, DIY, something I been meaning to try anyway. With 3 of us in the house now vaping, makes sense instead of constantly ordering juices. Now I'll be constantly ordering flavorings.

I know this isn't the point of your post, but my parents didn't smoke at all, but I chose to smoke for almost 18 yrs.

You must be happy that she is choosing to quit analogs and nip a bad habit sooner than later. If you want to gift her with a basic starter kit, go for it, but the rest is up to her.

Statement: I agree with this assessment. Most arguments about being critical for a negative behavior fall flat because of the 'do as I say, not as I do' mentality and there is some credibility to that. That being said though, it's still good advice and that's how we learn not to (hopefully) do dangerous things like light ourselves on fire or drive off cliffs.

Advice: She's 22, she's old enough to make informed decisions if you raised her properly. I agree with buying her a starter kit and encouraging her with information. As for the thievery though, that's another subject that needs to be addressed separately.

What can you really do? They're your kids.

Family is something we've kinda lost in America. I'm not talking about the 700 Club family values, I'm talking about old-school family. The Latin/South American/Italian/Irish clan/Asian style of family. Extended. It builds communities.

I took my sleep meds so I'm going to bed, but I think you should be happy it was your juice and not a cig,

Hit the nail on the head. I started vaping about a year ago when a dear friend showed me her ego-T, told me how easy it was to quit. So I got a few kits, my wife was able to stop immediately, I couldn't, still smoked analogues everyday, often grabbing one of my daughter's smokes. I quit about a month ago, & now cant stand the smell. Didn't really bother me that she took one of my vapes knowing how many smokes I grabbed off her ... it just made me happy she wants to. And as a bonus, she's a bartender at a busy sports bar ... and may very well influence many others to switch & quit. Win win.

I am 19 years old, smoked because of my dads influence when I was like 14. Seeing how my dad kinda wanted to quit smoking, he tried e-cigs, and then I got into them. Wasn't working for him, but I love vaping. Just wish he would switch and it's been a while, and he's still using his green smoke only a couple times a week. (I didn't tell him to buy it, he got it a while ago)

Tripple digits half way to home
If your old enough to buy tobacco products then your old enough to buy your own stuff.
The main problem with the kids today is that mommy and daddy give them everything they want.
I've had to work and earn everything I have and that makes me appreciate it that much more. It's mine!!!!! not yours.

It just sucks trying to get parents to switch! I am in Florida, my Mom lives in Chicago. I tell my Mom I switched, she sounds almost angry with it! I know she would love it if she tried it! All the different flavors, styles, she could deck hers out with crystals, glass drip tips, all kinds of cool stuff! My Dad pretty much begs me to get her to switch, but I remind him that I cannot do it being so far away! I have the mind to buy her a starter kit and have it sent to her, but I am afraid it will just sit untouched, or thrown out.

So do it. Get her a couple egos bats, a clearomizer or whatever, a charger, and a 5 pack sampler. Sure it may go untouched, you'll be out $60 or whatever, so what. But it could be the best thing you ever gave her, just think of everything she gave you. Just do it & hope for the best instead of wondering what if. :)

True that, but she has severe allergies and asthma. I have to watch what I get her for liquids. No PG whatsoever! I have to watch it with dyes too. I don't want to send her to the hospital with one false step, and I don't want her to send herself to the hospital not knowing what to order! I am really sensitive to liquids, and sometimes I itch on natural flavored PG free liquids! My allergies are minor compared to hers!
