the battery charges from the usb port. Its like you use the battery, not the usb current directly. I wouldnt waste your money on it. Get one from puresmoker that is direct current from usb. You'll be happier.. IMO I had a couple of those that were very disappointing..

Thanks. I was wondering why the need for a battery if it connected to the usb.

The 510 has a higher amperage draw than most attys, therefore requiring a battery to give a little boost..Honestly comparing the 510 passthrough to a Prodigy or Puresmoker PT is like comparing a stock Harley to an Orange County Chopper....The price and craftmanship isnt even close...If you want to invest more money, The Puresmoker Team and product is deffinatley recommended highly on this forum and by me personally...The 510 passthrough is very popular also, in fact Im sold out right now, and cant seem to keep them in stock...They are also a different air draw than the regular 510...I use one on occasion and you seem to have to draw slower and lighter to get the same vapor as the manual battery configuration...

alpha, my KR808 passthru does that too. works for a few good vapes, then..nothing. I discovered that if I just reach down and unplug it from the usb port and plug it right back in, voila! works fine again! give that a try. weird, huh? almost like it has a cutoff/reset. It only quits working if I chain vape it, not if I wait a while between each inhale. maybe some of the electronically gifted will know what is going on.
oh, and sometimes if I blow a fast little puff INTO the mouthpiece before I inhale it will start up again. kinda like a reverse primer puff.

Thank you Drew, you didn't have to do that. He hasn't fried in a long time. Learned his lesson. Right after we moved into our house (21 years ago) he was wiring some outlets in his work shop during a thunder and lightening storm! I watched the arc come out of the outlet and connect to the end of his screw driver! Duh, he is an auto mechanic by trade and actually a really smart guy, except that time lol.

The 510 PT is just a constant battery charger. The nice thing is you can use it for about three hours even when the power is disconnected, longer if you have charged 10440's laying around.

Haha...pirates make politicians look like.....good one!

Anyway, I am getting really confused here...since you are a proud owner of a pt...what is the exact intended use of it? I realize that sounds really dumb...but I just use a plain old 510. Is it interchangable w a 510? Is it just a battery that can last longer and/or deliver higher voltage? My little 510 seems so portable...that thing looks rather cumbersome.

Oh...can you use it connected (i.e., w wires)...you said "when the power is disconnected"....now that would really seem over the top (to be "wired" to something).
