I saw in another thread (I think it was in a different forum.) Someone posted about the button on their manual passthrough sticking. They left the room and it started to burn a hole in their couch!

My husband just called me and said the same thing happened to him this morning. We have a USB wall adapter and his PT was plugged into that. He went to refill his coffee and came back to a smoke filled room and a melted cartomizer. He said he didn't think it damaged the chair, but I will have to check that out more thoroughly when I get home.

So the moral of the story is that you should always unplug your PT when you leave the room. I suppose it's not an issue with the auto PTs...???

Yikes!

I know Steve has said that the new PT's don't have a cuttoff either, though in light of this I think a 20-30 second cutoff should be added. This makes at least the second one that I have read on this forum that has done this, so there could be more out there, and I think the last thing Steve wants is for somebody's house to burn down because of a faulty product....

I'm not sure it was that the button got stuck in our case. He said it slid between the cushion and the arm of the chair, which apparently depressed the button. Human error, but still very easy to do for anyone who isn't careful.

I agree, a cutoff would be something to seriously consider on the PTs.

My PT hasn't stuck on as yet, but my batteries do, I have to unscrew the cart quickly, it really eats up the juice.

Yes, I have had my auto do that once, and my manual do that four times now in the past week. I don't want to ask for a replacement, because it still works fine, but if it keeps up I may have to rule it a bad batt...

I have had a 801 manual that the button just fell off and before that the light was on a lot afraid it would burn out the atty, I have a 510 no problems but I do prefer a auto battery over manual.

Not to sound like a phoney PR guy, but we really do take this issue very seriously and are looking into it. ;)

Steve and I are already talking to the manufacturer. Our next order will be made with a 20-second cutoff for safety, and we are also working on getting a thicker button, with more resistance, and better tactile feedback, which should help reduce accidental activations.

What's more, I should be in China in a couple weeks, so if it's still not what we want by then, it soon will be thereafter! ;)

Wow you guys are ON IT! I am very happy to hear this - there are a lot of things I hate about my house but the one thing I love is that it's still standing and I hope to keep it that way. :)

As usual, thanks for looking out for us! Good luck and have fun on your trip.

I hear you LOUD and clear, will be taken care of tonight, for future orders.

I am so sorry, you also will get new auto passthru's when I receive. Please, let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Regards

Steve:cool:

I just received my ultimate kit this week and the PT is definately a problem. Did I receive one of the "new" auto passthru's you spoke of in November? I have the same problem. It gets so darn hot it has melted 3 carts and I am not leaving it plugged in. It is doing it just from vaping. Also, I have to knock it against the table just to get it to come on so I can take a draw from it. Gets wicked hot and then have to knock it again when I next want a draw from it. I just ordered another one so I'd have 2 of them. One for truck and one for home.

Actually have played around with this one and found that it gets the hottest when used on my desktop computer with 2.0 USB. Car usb adapter that I ordered with it doesnt seem to get as hot but still have to tap it on something in order for it to work.
