I have been leaving my passthru connected at all times since my usb ports are in the back of my PC, is this ok? I dont want to burn out the battery. Should I unplug it at the end of the day?

You won't burn out the battery, it quits charging when full. Many plug their passthroughs in through their computer but there are people here that don't recommend it. You could do a search on it but people like Jim Davis who works in electronics and others, suggest you get a 1amp wall plug like this one:

USB Dual Power Adapter

That's $3.90 shipped has dual ports that are both rated well for passthroughs and you could put another passthrough or a universal or corded usb charger in the other.

Get the adaptor Kent just recommended, it's perfect.

I haven't had problems plugging a passthru into my laptop but i wouldn't ever leave it plugged in there, i've read horror stories of them burning up and damaging stuff, and killing USB ports. It would be a much safer idea to just use one through a wall adaptor and unplug it when you're not using it.

I would not be concerned with leaving the battery type of USB passthrough plugged into a computer all the time.

I do understand the concern of using a un-regulated direct usb passthrough (no battery homemade type) with a computer. Many motherboards and power supplies (esp. laptops) will not provide the power (amps) they need. If the passthrough in question has no batteries I would get a wall wort rated at 1 amp or more.

@jruss is that a 17 in your sig?

I'm a pretty good computer geek as some would say, and I don't see any problem with having it plugged into your pc. I mean why would they sell the passthru with a usb end instead of a wall plug end????? Kinda makes no sense then right???? :)

The generic KR808D-1 USB passthru's i've had are all the same dodgy quality, i look at them like disposable items because they could die any moment, they cost dealers around 2 bux to buy that's why stores like Vapor4Life will just send you another one if yours dies and give them away as freebies in orders often, it's a common occurance for them to clap out.

I'm more worried about one of my USB ports blowing or it burning whatever it's sitting on (read some horror stories about this), not so worried about getting a replacement :)

Some better quality ones do exist but i haven't seen many places with them yet.
