I agree that people are easily manipulated. One need only look at how effective the anti vape propaganda is. Or how people cling to one obviously corrupt political party or the other. Most Americans no longer have the power to think for themselves because it's too hard.

Speaking specifically to reviewers I view them all with a jaundiced eye as most are biased to some degree. The ability to post a Youtube review does not automatically make one an expert either. I'l watch them occasionally but would never buy anything based solely on a video review.

I only watch Pbusardo. I don't like Rip Trippers at all. His splicing of videos is just too much. The good thing about Pbusardo is he gives the good and bad of a product. If he don't like it or its a lemon he will tell you. But I've never ran out and bought something just because he likes it. If I buy something its because I've researched it completely and feel it fits my needs way before even watching a review video. :thumb:

There may be some who actually buy based off reviews but that's a good way to end up with junk. I think most people use logic. If some can't use common sense and research more than a reviewers video then I can't see them going too far in life.

The majority of Vapers don't even watch video reviews. So, in reality I don't think there's a real correlation between reviews and products being sold out.

I based my purchases from compiling info I got here on the forum + testing and opinions at vape meets.
I watch the occasional video review to see what all the brouhaha is about and keep vaping my tried & true.

I use Phil's video reviews as accessories to my gear. Like paraphernalia.
I might see him use a method I haven't tried or present a fact I didn't know but mostly just enjoy watching a well done, factual review of something I already own and use.

I'm glad my rant started this discussion, its very interesting to me. My view of people in our society today is pretty cinical, I'm a history major and have learned from my own research and experience the sophistication of the deceit that has gone on the last couple hundred years. The majority of people when faced with the truth will laugh in your face, but for good reason, there are too many people with too many theories but that doesn't change the truth. I know this seems off topic, and maybe I'm giving myself an excuse to rant, but it all ties into what I'm saying. I have a few passions in life, the first is information, the second music, and my newest, which may be more of a hobby, is vapeing.

If the majority of vapers is like all of you than we should be fine but I'm afraid that its not. The majority of vapers I see are just people who are using cheaper devices to stop analogs, which is great but they don't even know we exist. I am just scared that in the next few years my authentics will be extremely rare and a thing of the past, in a bad way. Also, I have an image in my head that's like a bad dream where lining the shelves of convenience stores, replacing cigs, are overpriced, over taxed bottles of nasty Chinese juice and the only mods you can get are ....ty disposable tamper proof tubes. If people don't try harder to fight the corrupt fda that's being funded by big tobacco and companies like Monsanto than my nightmare may become reality. Vaping is a tiny part of this, if we can't even control what is in our food and water how can we be expected to use safer smoking alternatives.

I'm glad to hear opinions on this topic. It was just something I was thinking about because rip just put up a review on the Manhattan and people are already rushing to buy them up, even though they've been out for a good while now. Like I said I don't blame the reviewers at all. It's a good move on the modders behalf to send them products. I just hate the way people are today and don't want to see this community go down the tubes. I don't want it to become like everything else, as long as it stays small and within the hands of the people who love it the community will continue to advance and thrive but as soon as larger corporations notice there is a profit to be made it will ruin everything.

This makes absolutely no sense to me , I'm sure ECF will remain what it is , a source of information and education for vapers , but staying small ? How would you accomplish that ? By restricting membership ? Are you sure you'd qualify for membership if ECF did that ? As I type this you've only made 47 posts and been a member for little over a month and I guarantee you haven't had enough time to even see the tip of the iceberg here but you're comfortable making judgements about this forum as a whole ? It seems to me that staying small will only ensure that we have no voice to be heard by the FDA or big tobacco or anyone else for that matter . I don't intend my remarks as a personal attack but you've more or less implied that a lot of members here are mindless sheep being led around by the nose by Riptripper . Pure Rubbish IMO .

Is like that with any gadget, vaping gear is no exception:

There's always folks buying the latest/newest thingamajig. Flat screens, smartphones, cams, whathave you. When its new it's often hideously expensive and buggy to boot. Yet it gets bought and because it gets bought, it catches on and get mass-produced, reusulting on mor affordable prices, reaching a broad customer base.

Look up the prices for flat-screen monitors five years ago and when they touted as the bleeding edge technology ...

And 'sold out' maybe in large part due to the exceptional growth rates. Last year, vaping gear cracked the 1-billion mark.
And although BT and BP are working their paid minions harder than galley slaves, vaping is gathering steam ;)....

And it's not just the reviwed products, heck, I had to wait two weeks for FT to get restocked on a mundane item like an iclear16...

Well, welcome to the community....so glad you have all of us figured out. So far, I've met none of these people you speak of......but hey, you're the history major. I'm just an 'ol veteran.

Some times it's simply easier to complain about others, point out that corporations are corrupt [as if that was an original thought], proclaim that all of us [excluding the poster of course] are mere sheep and then, feeling superior and much much better, the poster can return to the Kardashians, JayZ and Beyonce.

Haha yeah ill do that, I love jay z soooo much, not. I was just interested in seeing how people felt on this forumn, people choose to be sheep or to think for themselves, I never once said anything remotely close to that, I just said that the majority seems to buy whatever is popular. Yes I believe corporations are corrupt and I also believe the majority are victims of manipulation and propaganda, that's called an observation, the truth had nothing to do with being original. It should be obvious to anyone with even a shred of free thought. I just like to spark discussions, try to get people thinking, most of the people on this forum seem informed and willing to do what they can to keep vaping in our hands. Attacking me with your silly concepts does no good, it creates nothing.

Multiple happy people with a product is a good sign. It's why I like to read Amazon reviews. Someone there will hash out the negatives and by reading enough of them you begin to build a somewhat reliable picture of the product.

I've been Kayfunning now for two days on an EHPro Kayfun 3.1. I'm not qualified to declare it an excellent tank atomizer at this point, but I built it in 10 minutes after watching a video and my 5/4 coil was 2.0 ohms at first vape. Last night it was still 2.0 ohms, and all day today it has read 2.0 ohms. That's more than I can say for the coil heads that use rubber grommets and it's probably going to be my daily vape for a long time to come.

My only gripe is that its weight makes my Provari really top heavy. One shake of the table and it falls over. Some would say that means it's well constructed (and I agree). Then, there will be those who say is over engineered and too heavy for any atty to stand stably on a table. I'd vote for it being built like a tank. Wait ... it is a tank! I rest my case ...

Still 1.7 ohms after 2+ months. I switch out the Tatroe for the original base when I hit the road.

I agree that people make their own decisions. I base mine on reading from many different areas. I will admit to not seeing a lot of videos, well none would describe it. I figured I don't want to rebuild, the GTS makes me nervous but I like how it looks. I will admit though a great deal will make me try anything. I got a couple of Alice in Vapeland juices with something I bought from the classifieds, which I have gotten some really good deals in. I may not have tried them otherwise. I wish Lucjy Seven had made it because I found some good things there.

In my opinion there will always be people that think that vaping is as bad as smoking or this product is better than that. There will also be people who listen to that and don't make there own decision. Unfortunately many of those that oppose vaping aren't vapors and probably were never smokers. They tend to look for things that strengthen the case that vaping is evil. Anyway that is my opinion.

Kind of lumping everyone in the same boat aint ya buddy. I think as a community, in general we are a bunch that thinks for themselves, thats why we do what we do. The post makes sense, just the tone of it is a bit offf putting.
Sorry off putting was not my intention. I just meant that I think most people do make their own decisions.

I can honestly say I have never watched a single review video for the purpose of buying. I make purchases based on positive comments here and other boards. When you see a certain producy mentioned enough there has to be something good about it. Start researching and you can find the honest reviews from regular users and then make your choice. When I wanted to buy a mech, the Nemesis was all the rage and I researched quite a bit and decided that was what I wanted. I am happy with it and would buy another in a heartbeat. Nothing against Rip Tripper but his style drives me nuts. If I want to see how something works I'll search for that particular product but I never watch a reviewer just to see what they have.
