FYI, I'm much better today. I think I'm still on the quitting yo-yo train to crazytown. Can't wait to get there.

The first couple weeks after quitting cigs were a nightmare for me. I doubt it was only due to that since I quit drinking and had a horrible case of bronchitis at the same time.

That's when I finally said enough is enough. Picked up vaping shortly after that and it's the healthiest I've felt this time of year in ages. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least sniffling in January and February.

well I do Karate once every week and i can tell you their is a massive difference. While being a smoker I would always run out of breathe really quick even during simple things like warming up. Another is I don't dehydrate any where near as quick as i did when i was a smoker, when i was a smoker and we had to do sparing I would get a really dry mouth and throat within 2 minuts till the point i would feel like I'm going to choke and die.

a whole lot of non karate things I found that improved, I can breathe a lot better, smell better (sort of) and i just feel better overall.

That brought back memories! I did Karate when I was in my 20's and had smoked less than 10 years. I'd lose a couple of pounds of water weight in a one hour class and I'd be exhilarated during the drive home. My mind would be going 90 miles an hour and my mental state was positive +. If that effect could be bottled the world would pay big bucks for it.

Definite improvements here with only 60 days into vaping. 47, +25 year smoker, the last 10 close to 2 packs a day. I brought home an eGo Twist / Kanger tank December 6th, had two smokes that night, have had zero smokes since. Had only used the eGo / Kanger 14 days before upgrading to a eGrip, and diggin it bigtime.

One thing I was expecting out of this was having to cough up all the leftover lung crud for weeks on end - that lasted maybe three days at most. Kinda disconcerting, as it's making me think that crud might be there permanently...

But:

  • Breathing is much easier / more voluminous / much more quiet - no rattles or wheeze.
  • Skin looks much better. I have what I guess what would be called liver or age spots - not really moles, of which I have a bunch too - just small, darker patches of skin, that with enough fussing would flake off. But all of them are subsiding.
  • Circulation is better. Quite often, my legs would fall asleep while in the chair at work staring at a screen for hours on end, and getting up to stretch / get blood flow going would take like 5 minutes. Same thing with reading in bed before sleep - my arms (particularly my left) would fall asleep, and I'd have to hold them out to get the blood going again. That's all subsiding, too.
  • Nicotine regulation is much easier. Some mornings, I'd have to have 5 - 6 smokes before feeling "right". Other mornings, just 1 - 2. With the eGrip, I start each morning at 8 watts and ramp up to 14 in an hour or so, and can feel each step (I'm using 12 mg nic).
  • I have tinnitus from years of playing drums in rock bands. I last played regularly in 2004, but it never really went away. It is really high pitched from cymbals being at ear level, and more prominent in my right ear. Since I started vaping, it's dropped considerably in my left ear, and it's hard to describe, but it's still there but "narrower" now in my right ear. I'm thinking this is more physiological, as when I was getting involved in strenuous activity, I could hear blood flow affecting the level / pitch of the tinnitus, and that's not the case anymore (which would tie back to increased circulation).
  • I've had to have a bunch of dental work in the last 60 days, and while my dentist is new to me, she's already reporting an improvement in overall mouth / gum health since she first started seeing me in late December. She says her husband is vaping with some kind of box mod for over a year now, and she's all for it.
  • Hm... how do I phrase this last one... quite frankly, sexual performance is greatly improved. ;-)

On the subject of colds / flu, it used to be I'd almost never get sick, but when I did, it was intense and lasted for days on end - sometimes 7 - 10 days, and some of those days being bedridden and calling in sick to work. I attributed this to lungs being coated with gunk enough to fend off weaker infections, but stronger ones would get through and hang.

I caught something on Christmas Eve that only lasted 2 - 3 days, and was able to be functional. Same thing around January 25 - caught something again, but it wasn't intense and only lasted 4 days at most. In both cases, I had done zinc lozenges at the onset, so that probably helped - where in the past, I'd do them at the onset and they didn't seem to help at all.

But I can't help but think about the calling into work thing - if vaping experience in general shows health improvements, why wouldn't employers want to accept something that could potentially cut down the amount of sick time taken? It sucks so hard that society is so conditioned about nicotine, and can't separate its association with smoking.

Lastly: my wallet / debit card is much healthier too - see my sig :)

I've posted this before, but this seems like a good time and place to repeat it...

--When I was smoking I could hold my breath for around 30 seconds
--After 12 months of vaping I could hold my breath for around 90 seconds
--After 17 months of vaping I got a Pulmonary Function test and my results were slightly better than average
--After 30 months of vaping I could hold my breath for around 110 seconds

As for the colds and flu thing...

I used to get sick around twice per year.
The symptoms to recovery period lasting around a week.

Since I started vaping over five years ago I have only gotten sick once.
And the symptoms to recovery period was only about two days.

Even my wife doesn't get sick anymore.
I attribute that to her getting a good dose of my high PG exhales on a nightly basis.
;)

When the cigarettes go away the fingernails turn pink again with no yellow stains. Lung function begins to improve quickly and after 5 years it's almost like you never smoked compared to the way you felt while smoking. Some sources say that by the 3 month point your lungs are 30% more efficient. A year after quitting your heart attack risk drops by half that of a smoker.
