Hi guys,

I don't post often although I read a lot here. I've been vaping for a long time, although i did have an equally long break between the first time I quit smoking thanks to vaping (because of a developed allergy to PG--although it also may have been chinese juices way back in the early days) I've been back now for about a year. I used to always think about DIY juice, but have put it off until now. I recently ordered 24mg 100%vg nic and 100% vg to mix along with several flavors and some accessories from my freedom smokes. I have a couple of calculators saved, but like the ejuice recipe calculator the best so far just from playing with it and plugging in percentages. My question is, with vg being thick, and not using any pg (except for what little might be in the flavor extracts) how much distilled water (percentage wise) should I plug into the calculator?

Thanks, I just use an ego-twist. Have also been thinking mods, but I still am just in love with my egos. For the delivery, it varies. I have a vivi nova that I love for my all day, lower nic level juices, and then I will alternate between a drip atty with an 18mg juice for the occassional I'm in need of a stress relieving hit juice, lol, and then I usually have two or three disposable carts filled with 12mg juices of different flavors for a little pick me up and change of taste from the tank. (hate that they have discontinued the vision vivi nova so I can't get anymore coils for it to keep it going, but will probably change to the newer version of the nova or the kanger pro tank when I need to next. I don't think I'm ready for modding yet).

Thanks to both of you.

What would be the problem if it was too thin? Would it just be a matter of running through the liquid too fast, or are their other problems if the mix is too thin?

Basic Rules of e-Liquids:

Too Thick: Doesn't Wick Well. Will Cause Dry Hits.

Too Thin: Floods Atomizer. Can Cause Leaking or e-Liquid in your Mouth.

It is Impossible to Say what is Best for Any Given Person Thin/Thick wise. Because of the Ginormous amount of Combinations and Permutations of e-Liquids, Voltage/Ohms and Hardware.

You kinda have to do some Experimenting to find what Works Best for You and your Set-Up.

Which is All Part of the Fun (or Headache ) of DIY.

Thanks zoiDman

I get it with the fiddling with what works, but it's great to have a good idea of a starting point. Still looking forward to it, :) I was one of those kids that liked the thrill of the possibility of blowing up the house with a chemistry set ;) Really though, I know I'll love it. I'd probably love RBAs and mods too, and they are always in my mind, they still just scare me a bit. I'll get there.

My experience has been when you add just a little too much water, there is a sudden dramatic dropoff in vapor production.

It's possible that flooding coil contributes to that, but that's been my experience

I hear you...

When asked the Same Question I like to tell people to Dilute their VG until it is a Little Thicker than PG. Then when the Flavoring/Sweeteners are added, you end up with a Finished e-Liquid that is about the Same Viscosity High PG e-Liquids.

I think Most Hardware is Designed to work with Higher PG e-Liquids. But that is just My Opinion.

Hi everyone, I'm a bit confused about the percentages you guys are quoting. When you say 15% DW for example, does it mean 15% of the volume of VG, or 15% of Total liquid? I have seen vendors sell liquid that contains 30% of TOTAL volume in DW.
Example
15% DW
5% Flavoring/Nic (PG based)
80% VG

I believe that most people here are using giving a Percentage of the Total amount of VG. And Not of the Total e-Liquid Volume.

I can Only Speak for Myself. But what I do is to Dilute the Pure VG into something thinner using Water. Then I save that in a Separate Bottle. When my Recipe calls for VG, I then use the Diluted VG.

That way you Don't have to Measure the Water and Dilute the VG Every Time.

I use total volume. :) I have to be different.....
