You're welcome. Mine go wonky too from time to time (IE or Firefox). Sometimes ya just gotta close 'em and open 'em back up again.
I love that jig too. Very elegant design. And I'd vote for DZ if he ran for president.

I'm thinking that if I move my car from in front of the tool box I can maybe find. Lets see. Don't have that many fingers. I know I got some of them somewhere. But where?
I found a 1" C clamp in my tool box, should be available at any Home Depot or similar place. Works great!

Love it! The poor man's micro-coil jig. And it's portable...(unlike my vise).
yeah, I was using a vise too before I found the little clamp. It was clunky and awkward. So when I saw DZs jig, I went into the garage and looked for an alternative. The little clamp is uber convenient.

I do everything with these guys . . . grip both drill bit and wire. Grip the whole coil while it's on the bit to play with the ends. Grip the coil lengthwise (plier faces on ends). Hot pinch the coil. Straighten lengths of wire, say I bent a leg in the wrong place. blah, blah, blah.

Treebeard, that's an interesting clamp, never seen those before. I Googled it: Cooper B-Line B351-3/8 at ElectricianSupplies! no idea what it's used for but I want one, no idea what I would use it for. 
This is how I used to wrap coils, with a vise too holding 1/16" music wire. But I used one hand to hold one end of the wire & wrap with the other hand. Allowed me to give good tension on the coil.

Oh man - the Panavise. An extremely handy shop item.
Great camerawork there Super, my sound is on the blink so had to concentrate on the pictures. They tell the story well and in clear and artful detail.
Is this music wire available locally, Home depot, hardware stores, ect? How hard is it to cut into short lengths?
Music wire is from Deazy. I never heard of it before him. I'm sure he knows about allot of cool stuff I never heard of
It's like a solid rod of metal that appears very strong and prolly doesn't bend easy
Super great tip on the shorter tail than the other!!! What an "a haaa" moment I just had. Never thought of that but certainly will help my coiling. Thank you!
After thinking about it, for the music wire, or similar, I think the local hobby shop might be a good place to go. I think that RC cars and airplanes use this stuff, or something that is not easily bendable anyway.
My current micro coils constructed last night with the darkzero jig using the .055 music wire (its right between 17 & 18 ga).
30 ga a bunch of wraps prolly around 2ish ohms. I like it :
27 ga mucho wraps prolly around 1.2ish ohms. I like it.
