Here is an experiment I did using 28 gauge kanthal. The big coil is wrapped using my wood jig on a 1/16 inch post. The small coil was wrapped using my wire wrap tool onto a 22 gauge syringe (i think, not sure about that size). It was the largest I could fit into my wire wrap tool.
I am not sure I could get wicking thru it being so small. But you can tell it is a tight little coil and all I need to do is scale up the tool. It was very very easy to make with the only dexterity involved being threading the wire thru the hole.

maybe we can talk Deazy into building some jumbo ww tools, assuming none exist

Some exist already...sort of...but it may need some modding to use for micro coils.
We use it in jewelry making. It's called a jump ring maker.
As the unit exists now, even the smallest mandrel may be too large for coils...but I'm sure one of you crafty engineers can fix that.

So, I finally got a chance to use Dizzie's jig for what it was intended for ("as it was intended to be used") . . . . My "Nickel Hiatus" has come to an end, and I'm back on the René41 and the Nichrome wire. So here's a dual twisted R41 wrapped on the jig. Pretty ding-dang tight for René. (I twisted on a drill; but actually used the jig as my fixed point .. .. the hold-down screw end of it) Wrapping on the jig gave me much more control and tension.
Curious, what ohm did that coil read? And it looks to have enough surface area to be an efficient wick all by itself. Impressed to say the least.
It's about .5Ω. It's a dual coil and would normally come out to about .35Ω; but twisting it crams a bunch more wire length into a loop of the coil. René is only available in 27 gauge. Dizzie thought up the jig about the time we were considering trying the René 41 wire. He thought it might aid in wrapping it; as it is hard to work with. Although, that's just how I recall it. He'll be along shortly, if I'm in need of correction.

just finished wrapping my first coil using darkzero's jig. far, far and away the best i've ever done as well as the easiest. i have no idea how the jig pulled it off, but this coil even took no time at all to get the wires into the teeny tiny postholes. it's magical.
i now have a bit more work to do because all my other coils have already tossed themselves in the dirt, waiting to get peed on...

If ever a thread deserved a nice bumpity - it is this one. Thanks Super for the video. It concisely shows just what needs to be done to produce a seriously sweet vapin' micro coil. With a nice cotton wick too. No extra commentary and filler - just what you need to know.
Maximum Vaping = Reo Mod + RM2 w/micro coil and cotton wick!

If ever a thread deserved a nice bumpity - it is this one. Thanks Super for the video. It concisely shows just what needs to be done to produce a seriously sweet vapin' micro coil. With a nice cotton wick too. No extra commentary and filler - just what you need to know.
