Here is a photo of my Corgi Libby she is 6 mo old and my baby. This is the reason I had to quit smoking (my husbands rule) He quit almost 4 years ago so knew he would have me on this one. We've had a couple of labs before who I also loved but with the kids gone now this one is my special gal.

Thanks! I use Picturetrail, and have for years. I always post pics big on my "dog" forums...but wasn't sure of the size allowed here. Never looked! hahaha

I have a lot of dogs, and a lot of pics. Some of the dogs are rescues, and some are show dogs, but we love each and every one of them...Champions, or not! :)

Thank you for the suggestion... I'll just post a few. Here are a couple of Cole (in my Avatar). He's a Newfoundland and is 3.5 years old and weighs 156 lbs. His registered name is CH Honeylane's Unforgettable Fairweather and is our first Champion! Yep...proud Momma here!

This is his CH photo from last January in Florida. I'm not in the pic...the lady handling him is his handler, JoAnn. :)

And at home after we got back from FL! He was so happy to get home and play in the snow!

Oh...and here is our new puppy, Frankie (Darbydale's My Way). He's 6.5 mos old in these pics and weighs about 93 lbs. Gonna be a big boy! :) Hope he does as well as his Uncle Cole has!

He really doesn't have a Mohawk on his forehead. The wind was blowing :)

Love these pics, especially of the puppy playing in the snow.

I saw my first Newfoundland when I was a child. Our family went to Canada in August EVERY YEAR for fishing. We went to Red Lake city for shopping and someone was walking a Newfie down the sidewalk...I thought it was a bear, lol. Then in college, one of my classmates had one who could pull a 3/4 ton truck (looking back, that was probably animal abuse but everyone loved watching that dog do that).

If I ever lived somewhere where I could have a big dog, I'd have one...they're so sweet and gentle.

Congrats on the CH!!!

This was my son's dog, Kiki..an Akita from Japan. His last weigh in was at 160...they quit weighing him after that. He was sweet, stuborn and adored kittens and puppies. He also liked to lick my chickens..they weren't happy about it, I can tell you.
We had to shave him in the summer it was just too hot for him. The little dog was my mom's Doodlebug, a female Boston Terrier. They were best friends. (Mom in the background)
Once a lady stopped to ask what Kiki was and if the little dog was HER puppy. Look ma..No tail! I told the goofy woman that HE was a cross between a Chow and a Cow and yes it was HIS puppy. She drove off smiling.

Thanks for the compliments! I could post the other 13 here but didn't want to hog the thread. LOL Yes we have 15 dogs. About 50% of them are rescues/rehomes to us.

Plus we have 5 cats...all came to our door as starving tiny kittens.

I love Akitas! He's beautiful!!

My handler JoAnn (pictured above) is an Akita breeder. That's "her" breed of choice. That and Portuguese Water Dogs. However, the are known to be a bit sketchy with other dogs, and some people. You have to be a very knowledgeable, strong, well-educated person to have an Akita. They're wonderful dogs, but not for the novice.

Akita's are only ok with opposite gender dogs. Kiki loved the girls! He hated our male german shepard ( all them were fixed).
If they were in the same yard a fight started and the only way to break it up was to push them in the pool! Kiki loved the pool and would quit fighting to go for a swim..Jake the shepard couldn't swim to the shallow end fast enough! Kiki didn't even like the potbellied pig..a guy named flower. (We didn't name him).
Kiki had kennel cough when my son got him..he was agingout of the for sale market and my son talked the owner into giving him the dog or they would have put him down! He was the son of champion Akita's for goodness sake! I rocked the puppy on my shoulder and patted his back to relieve the cough..which was fine when he was a 40 lb pup. He still tried to get in my lap to be rocked when he was grown! he was a big sweetie.
I have had friends with American Akita's..they are not as sweet. thank goodness they are smaller.

Much like American Bulldogs. IF they become aggressive (usually around 3-4 years old) they're only same-sex dog aggressive. Otherwise, they're wonderful dogs.

We have one, Ellie Mae, who we rescued at 4 weeks old. She was TINY. She loves everybody and everything! However, when we bring in a new pup (even a male) we need to be cautious for the first couple of weeks. We let her get used to them when they're in the crate, then gradually have her "meet" them in different settings, and finally let them sniff, and meet on lead in a room. She's always good, but seems tense until she realizes they're staying. LOL Then she lets the puppies maul her...which they inevitably do. They're only smaller than she is for about a month then they rapidly outgrow her. haha

Her dog family here includes males and females, and she's good with all of them. Not sure about the cats. Never introduced them to her. ha

We have had white german shepards for 34 years, in pairs or alone but I have never had a deaf one! Thank goodness! Ours have been private purchase(2) rescue (2) and given to us (2)because the owners didn't understand how big and active german Shepards get! \We have always had cat companions for our dogs. We get the kittens when the dogs are older or when the cats are grown and the dogs are pups. Works either way. I have never tried all kittens and puppies! That would be a zoo not to mention the kittens being in danger of too playful pups!

Thanks CES for resurrecting this thread...I loved reading it! Looooved all the doggie pics! I can't have a dog (live in an apartment with a strict "no dog" policy...grrrr!) but if I could, it'd be an English Bulldog - love their little grumpy faces, lol!!!

I'll try to hunt down (or take) some pics of my brood - 1 cat and 2 birds :)

That's funny Mary Kay. It made me smile.

I'm warming Wade up to the idea that we really should have a sugar glider for a pet. Wish me luck!

Thanks Mary Kay, although I think I'm a little past the spandex stage. Here's a pic of my pup Nala. This is what happens when you tell the kids to go outside and play in the snow with the dogs. Yup, that's snowballs. Pour pups face must've weighed a couple of extra pounds. Took her quite a while to thaw out, then she went right back out and did it again.

OMG! I have a chocolate labradoodle that looks like that when he comes in from the snow, in fact we have taken to calling him 'snowball'. The only thing is I think it hurts his feet so we have to defrost him in the bathtub. I will try to post a picture of Beck and Murphy my two sweet labradoodles in the next day or so.
