Ok, these are my babies with fur, all rescued and all very, very spoiled! From left to right we have Munchie (Munchkin), Iggi (Ignacious), Mr. Fuzzypants (Orton), Monkey (Pumpkin) and Ookie (Ookiefanooki) My house is full. There will be no more rescuing for quite a while! I'm trying to find a place to certify Munchie and Iggi as companion animals so we can visit nursing homes and such but am having a hard time finding one in Tampa that certifies cats. So for now we go to petsmart and my nail salon It keeps socialized to people and the car while I try to find a place. And kudos for Mary Kay for giving us all a chance to brag about our babies with fur! :)

This is Mia. She's our little girl and the Queen of Laziness! I adopted her from the Denver Dumb Friends League a few years ago. She was so sad when I first saw her and she barked at everyone except me, so I couldn't resist. She went from being a scared, unsocialized backyard breeder dog to living the life of luxury and love! Every comfy place and every blanket in the house is "just for her." She's our love and we spoil her rotten...or maybe she spoils us?

WOH, you really are a woman of HEART! Isn't rescuing fun? Our Little Girl was in a similar situation, mostly neglect but also physical abuse. She would bite everyone except me for the longest time, but now at 4 yrs old, she's all but over it. A permanent reminder is her toes...she hadn't had them clipped/trimmed EVER and were so curled she was actually walking on them. (She was 9 mons old when we rescued her). Our groomer worked tirelessly...and at her own risk! and now Scooter has no lasting damage other than her two 'long toes' on each foot. She has adapted well, using them as fingers to pick things up, etc. Give Mia a big ol hug from Scooter!!

I guess I have this thing for animals that have been abused or neglected. My gymkhana horse was the same; severely abused, head shy, skittish. Everybody, including my mom, said I was crazy to want her and she probably wouldn't amount to anything. WRONG! I went to Montana State O-Mok-See Finals the first year I had her. By then, the only way you could tell that anything bad had ever happened to her was to look at her teeth (that's a long story.)

I love hearing about all of your animals. The only thing I've done is to adopt shelter pets, but they have all turned out to be such loving animals. Although I think I understand why people are drawn to certain breeds, I try to encourage my family and friends to consider homeless animals first. Around here, if you're willing to wait, you can get that Siamese or Sharpei at the shelter eventually!

Hence the name hairball....five cats

The little guy in my avatar, Boo, is the actual picture the local newspaper posted when he went up for adoption. Here he is at 5 months old, in a dog bed.

Next is Maxi. Maxi actually has mitten paws. You can't see them since she has long hair. Her eyes are blue. I can never get a pic of her without it turning out this way.

Mia is Maxi's sister. Same paw setup but only on her front feet. You can't tell that they are sisters but they are. She's a shorthair and more sociable than Maxi.

Shadow is my OCD cat. She hates change and strangers. It took her 2 days to come out of hiding when we bought new furniture. I got her from a friend's sister. Severly starved and ate up with fleas. I picked 32 off of her and then gave her a good bath and plenty of food. I didn't think she was going to make 24 hours but she did and I'm grateful. She has only adopted me into her cat family. Hubby and my daughter can't touch her at all.

Last but not least is Turbo Sqeekers. I bottle raised him from 4 days old. He is more my husband's cat than mine other than when he wants headbutt lovin's...or food....LOL. He is also a tattletail. He will actually tell on one of the other cats if they are doing something wrong.
