I used Chantix 4 times to stop smoking. Each time I failed my doctor would prescribe me another round and encourage me to keep trying. I did this for 2 years. I can't tell you the roller coaster of mental issues I went through. I almost lost my marriage over it. I was incredibly aggressive, severely depressed and everything in between.

It is a very toxic and dangerous drug. I would advise anyone who is thinking of quitting smoking to seek other options. I do believe taking it for as long as I did and as much as I did has had a permanent effect on my mental health.

So sorry to hear what you went through, Luestherin. My cousin and her husband both used Chantix and ended up separating. After they stopped taking the drug they got back together again and pretty much credit Chantix with the awful way they were treating each other before the break-up.

I hope you have found a good substitute for smoking. Most folks on ECF use e-cigarettes, but we have some people who use smokeless tobacco products either in addition to, or instead of, e-cigarettes. Just about anything that delivers nicotine in some way other than inhaling smoke (not to be confused with vapor, which scientifically speaking is a very different substance), is less hazardous to health than continuing to smoke.
