I'm wanting to order some unflavored nic juice. It seems a lot of people order it in all vg, am I right about that or are those just the posts I've stumbled on? I figure I can end up with the ratio I want either way by using the Dan's ejuice calculator. I'm just wondering if there is something I'm not thinking of. I want to get quite a bit just in case things go south but I really don't want to get the wrong thing. I have been researching DIY all wkend and feel as tho I'm beginning to understand what I'm doing. Enough anyway to place an order. I like an 70/30 pg/vg. I don't think that makes a difference in what I order but maybe it does.

Something else I've been wanting to ask, what does this mean "Typically the average user will use 20% VG to 80% PG as their base?" Just the 20% part. I really don't have a clue.

Any help on this will be appreciated. Thanks

It's really just a matter of personal taste. Some people are allergic to PG, so of course they would use all VG. Other than that, it's perfectly ok to use either one or a combination of both. PG gives more throat hit than VG.. VG is a bit sweeter and thicker, and produces more vapor. I personally like a 70/30 mix-- but it really is up to the individual user. One is not inherently better than the other.

It's a percentage sign that got mistranslated by the forum software switch. Most were fixed, but the first one in each post seems to still be messed up. Let me know where you see it if it's an important post so I can fix it.

I answered your question here (links to post 168): http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/74109-guide-diy-flavoring-17.html#post1878631

I don't know how important it is but it's in Dan's DIY supplies post. In the top section, USP VG.

Let me ask your opinion, do you think that unflavored nicotine will become unavailable if the FDA is successful in it's attempts to squash vaping? I would sleep a lot better if I knew that couldn't happen or probably wouldn't happen.

The pros will correct me if I am wrong but if you are aiming for a 20/80 VG/PG ratio ( as an example) and you want the resulting juice to have 24mg/mL and you start with 48mg/mL unflavored nicotine with a VG base, then the best that you can get is a 50/50 VG/PG mix. You can avoid some of this by working with very high nic juice but you really do have to be very careful when you are working with it. So...I would suggest getting the one with the base you want the high percentage of in the final mix. Boy I hope that wasn't too confusing.
