Yeah, I know... I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something... Turns out I'm not that big of an idiot (at least for this).

There was something wrong with the PG I had... I went back and bought another gallon, and it's mixing the way it should. Makes me wonder what was in that bottle... It acted like alcohol (in viscosity, anyway), but it didn't have the odor. Just glad I didn't vape any of it... Next bottle worked well, and tastes right. I'm afraid to taste the other...

Thanks all, for your input.

Here & There
See: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/52669-pg-vg-labeling-purity-please-read.html

"...any Glycerin, USP labeled in any of the above mentioned Pharmacy labels (Humco, Family Pharmacy, Good Neighbor Pharmacy, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreen's and Walmart labels) IS USP grade AND Vegetable sourced..."

I get my VG USP from Rite Aid most of the time, it's convenient, absolutely fine for the year I've been mixing. Health store glycerin is actually what I would be cautious about, unless it, too, is explicitly USP.

From the sticky I linked above: "What about all those Vegetable Glycerin products you find in health food stores? ... Kashrut(kosher) laws are Jewish religious dietary laws having to do with the preparation of food products and really have nothing to do with the labeled purity of the product....In any case USP and Kosher are 2 different things. There is no such listing in the USP for "Kosher Glycerin"...There is also no “Vegetable Glycerin” monograph in the USP....The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 gives almost carte blanch license to Dietary supplement/Herbal/Vitamin/Health Food/Natural Product manufacturers to manufacture, label and market their product as they see fit(no true oversight or approval by the FDA)."

You may be right but I found threads here where Humco wouldn't give any straight answer about what the source is or is not and frankly the FDA cares about making money and helping out Big Pharma and not people's health. Their stamp of approval means nothing to me.

Vegetable glycerin is made from the oils and fats of a plant-based ingredient, generally coconut or palm oil. Glycerin is derived from animal fats. I tried Humco once but I prefer other brands. Another lovely factoid for us all-- glycerin is a component of dynamite....LOL

I remember at least one other person had this issue. Seems they could be getting their mineral oil and PG labeling mixed up...

On the plus side, it's easy to identify, and I'm sure TS will take the return. I just hope the dairy farmers are double checking the contents. Yikes!
