PG/VG ratios

I started out vaping 80/20 mix exclusively but picked up a 50/50 five pawns today and it is amazing. Quite a bit smoother. I am sure that a lot of this has to do with personal preference but since my normal supplier gives me the freedom to pick my ratios I am considering upping my VG.

Does anyone have any extensive experience regarding usage of cartomizers vs atomizers vs protanks and what ratio works best for each choice of converting your juice to vapor? (Regardless of brand)

I also started at 80/20, then went to increasing the VG slightly 70/30, 65/35. But when I found a local B&M who would mix at any ratio however their default blend is 50/50, I tried it and liked it. So now even when ordering from other vendors I go with 50/50.

I am sure alot of it is personal preference on mix ratio depending on if you like more vapor or more throat hit but I noticed some juices that come different then 50/50 tend to cause leaking in bottom coil tanks and clearo's and if to thick end up with alot of dry burn due to not wicking .. I personally like 50/50 seems plenty of flavor and plenty of vapor.

I'd get the ratio down that you enjoy most with a combination of more vapor production/smoother throat hit (VG) or a harsher throat hit and more robust flavor solubility (PG). At least those are the determining factors I use for formulating liquids to my liking. But also consider the slow wicking properties of VG-heavy juices. In my experience, high VG juices will work fine in cotton wicked cartomizers, but have a bit of trouble wicking through some of the punched holes in tanks to reach the interior cartomizer. the 50/50 blend you are using should be just fine, but when you get into the range of 70%VG / 30% PG sometimes the wicking can be a bit difficult since the VG is really viscous.

I use the ProTank exclusively, and I love the flavor and smoothness of 50/50 ratio in the tank. I've tried everything from 80/20 to 100% VG in it, and 50/50 seems to be pretty consistently good for me. I do stress, though, that this is purely subjective.

I agree with mjrhartley , 50/50 works quite well for me in my protanks.

I find 60/40 delivers the amount of flavor and vapor I like. An added bonus is this ratio wicks perfectly and I never need to remove strands of wick from any "stock" wicking system.

Thanks for all the great answers guys. I've continued to vape the Grandmaster 50/50 on a ProVari/Protank setup and its like heaven. I checked with my normal company and my future orders will be 50/50. I can't wait until I get my Ithaka and put some in there!

Though still considered a newbie, I found 60 pg/40 vg is good for me. Have some 50/50 but hard to get a good throat hit off of that. 60/40 is all I order unless a specific blend is thought to be best for a specific flavor by the juice maker.

they say VG is more challenging to get the same flavor, so if they can get the flavor right, i like more VG
