I am so totally not into math. I flunked PRE-algebra, so math and I do not get along. There are some others out there who can't relate to the mathematics of DIY e-juice either, this is for you. I just made my first batch. I used eliquidplanet 36mg unflavored, PG from ebay, VG from health food store and Lorann flavor from Walmart. I didn't measure, I just used some droppers I got from Walmart in the contact lens supply dept. They are glass and a bit bigger than the ones that come in 30ml eliquid bottles. I used 4 dropper fulls of 36mg eliquid, 4 droppers full of PG, then about 1/8 dropper of VG (just enough to thicken a little), 3 or 4 drops of Lorann. I am vaping pina colada right now and it tastes great plus I'm getting a nice throat hit using a cart with my 801. I made butterscotch and that was good too. As near as I can tell, this should be about 18mg and it yields what appears to me to be about 10ml. If I don't kill my atomizer, I'm a happy camper.
I got the Humco from Walmart instead of the CVS stuff, specifically because the Humco states it is USP, but that was based on Kate's advice, you know, THE KATE.
I would like to answer one question that has been asked a number of times in this thread, although indirectly. The primary reason you see folks rarely vaping only Glycerin from the local store (ie Walmart, CVS, etc) is because it doesn't contain any nicotine and most of us are still after the nicotine in our vape. The sites that sell glycerin with nicotine call it VG because it is and also to distinguish it from PG and not confuse people. So, to get the desired level of nicotine, folks mix in some glycerin from the store often diluted some with distilled water if it's too thick. Hence, this is why you mostly see a "mix."

I use 1/4 glycerin and 3/4 36mg menthol nicotine and drip on atomizer. I get great throat hit and good menthol flavor. Have been dripping it for about 2 weeks. I tryed just the glycerin and it vapes good but no real throat hit.
Ok, call me exhausted with all the reading, but I see nothing in here about PG....I now know VG and glycerine are the same, and I take it that the eliquid is VG based.
What about the PG? do we HAVE to use it? and how much basically?

Almost all commercially available e-liquid is PG based. There are some vendors that sell or are planning to sell VG based e-liquid.
Which ever you use is mostly personal preference or because you've had a bad reaction to either.
If you're okay with PG, you can add some VG to get more vapor.

I want to thin out some PG juice that I have since I feel like I get a mild throat irritation. I found Glycerin that seems to be used for food coloring (I guess for frosting?). Is it OK to mix that with the PG liquid I have, since I found it locally it is much more convenient to get. I was just going ahead and get it; but it seems really thick so I wanted to check first.
I figure I'd probably use 10% glycerin, added to the juice I have..

Glycerin is much thicker than PG, so by adding G to PG you would actualy be thickening it. This will most likely produce a little more vapor, but yes it is fine.
I thought glycerin was pg. And that vg was the vegetable glycerin. So there is three? Where do you get them all? I tried Hobby Lobby, Walmart,(where I found USP Glycerin, bought) Can't find Vegetable glycerin anywhere. They look at me like I'm speaking a foreign language or something. Tried Health Food Store too. Nothing. I didn't want to have to pay shipping from anywhere. I went to Petco for Fluval or whatever it's called and they had nothing. Some of their filter/fluval looked like large pore sponge type. Then there was a no-name brand, that looked more like what fluval that should be used, but it was a huge box and they wanted 10 for it. No small packs. So me...being the tight wad I am,... didn't get it. Hobby Lobby had some LorAnns flavoring, but it sucked. Nothing I wanted. Grape, banana, cherry, etc. Had none of them. No glass dropper bottles. I tell you, this town had nothing to get. I did manage to find my hubby a wire stripper he wanted. I tell you, when ever I want something, never can get it. Always happens to me. If I don't want it, they will be giving it away at everywhere!! I am so aggravated now.

I'VE USED 95% VG 5% Flavor... 2 weeks, atty still going strong.. I don't notice any problems... Keep in mind this Glycerin doesn't state to be anhydrous...

I picked up Glycerin at Michaels. Seems to be working fine. Its in the cake section and seems to be used to better hold the color of frosting. It has nutritional content, so I figure it can't be that bad.
Also, I was going to get VG; available at the VitaminShoppe, which is a chain. So there may be one by you.

i bought a DIY kit from myfreedomsmokes.com. has everything i need. droppers , syringes , fluval, polyfil, pg & vg, 30 ml 36 unflavored, menthol crystals, bunch of other stuff. take a look at the site.
Very useful information. I keep a bottle of 50/50 VG/PG that I use for mixing my 18mg down to 12mg. I don't like the fact the VG is so thick. And while they both cost about the same, VG is much easier to come by. I only use my mixture 1/3 VG/PG mixture to 2/3 e-juice, but I think I might switch to using VG for my mixing. It's still got enough e-juice to thin out the VG but would add even more vapor. Too much VG may cause your atimizer to burn hotter (shorter lifespan) and be more likely to get gunked up (thickness).
I prefer to mix with VG instead of PG.
VG is very thick so I can add more Everclear 190 proof PGA to get a little extra kick with 0 mg nicotine recipes.
I use Wilton Glycerine from Hobby Lobby and it works great. I like the fact that my eye dropper (from JC and NuVape) screws directly on the bottle.
I feel PGA will give germs a harder time than H2O.
Don't need any extra germs in my lungs.

Just want to mention that my experiment with thinning some 18 mg PG with CVS Pure Glycerine USP went horribly wrong. This glycerine is labeled anhydrous and is very thin consistency. Added about 25% G to 75% PG. Great vapor, followed by a headache, shakes, and nausea. This was about 50 minutes ago and am glad to say am feeling MUCH better so it was short lived. Just a heads up. Doing a search I NOW see that others have had some issues with the CVS Glycerine.
