Exactly, with more than 40 million smokers in the United States alone, the market/profit potential of e-cigs is gigantic. More important, these will be highly attractive within the community of former smokers. Just think of the size of that market. I bet it is at least double the population of current smokers.
As others have noted, many current smokers will probably stick with their regular cigarettes. For example, after I told my sister about e-cigs only a month ago, she bought one. My nephew and his wife have since asked her to supply e-cigs as Christmas gifts this year, and everybody my sister works with - vetinerarians! - have ordered them. Nevertheless, my brother-in-law says its a cool gizmo, but he is not interested in switching. For that matter, my sister is now using both analogs and vaping.
Either way, PM wins.
