Nice to know, but this product will not help our battle with FDA in spite of that the patent was issued in 2002 and could be a subject to grandfathering ecigarette - PM didn't use any type of nicotine infused liquid but a specially designed cigarettes to be used in this device.
what I dont understand is why would you buy it its no healthier and it uses a "special" cig. so you still get all the same crap thats in them in the first place.

The Ruyan design and patents are completely different than the PM device. There is no "grandfathering" and it is a completely different concept and implementation. As a matter of fact, the PM design is in the "tobacco product" league, where the atomized-liquid PV is not.
Yeah, P M sales these things and cig too---the cost of using tobacco gets higher.

Like cell phones, products evolve, as did the original e cigarette type from PM. Look carefully though because the Heatbar and other early designs of e cigarettes look very much like the Janty Stick and box mods that some ECF members love. Take a look at today's version of this concept at ploom

Sweet buttery hell that thing is huge...it looks like a personal ma- um nevermind *ahem* a beard trimmer. If they want to compete so badly and preserve their market share, just make a regular ecig. While they're at it, make it here in the good ol' U.S. of A. That's bound to get some people to want to buy their product.
If you search you'll find several threads about the HeatBar. No surprise, in test markets it failed miserably.
