The coils can be right on top of each other almost. Even if they touch, it doesn't effect the resistance or cause a short. That's another common fallacy.

What? If they touch they won't short? Are you talking about material wick type RAs or genesis or both. I've never heard that before about either.

Are you using a single wick or double in your Pene? Try doubling it up before you wrap (only one wick goes down the channels, the other you trim at the edges of the cup). That will make each wrap use a longer length of wire and you should have no trouble hitting 3 ohms. It's tight, but it'll fit

Here is an LR Hybrid atty.
Notice the end coils touch.
No shorting.
Of course, the best (and most even) heating comes from spaced coils.

I use a single wick with each end going down a slot on each side of the ceramic cup. Is that what you mean?

I see what you mean about doubling the wick. I'll have to try that but I thought the wick had to go down both sides of the ceramic cup. No?

The loops of the coil are on the same circuit, & electricity travels the path of least resistance.

Cross two over each other the next time you play around with your Cobra. ;)

I don't have a cobra. I have a cheapo Chinese DID but I'll try the closer, maybe touching wraps and see what happens. I didn't believe a mesh wick wouldn't short if you didn't juice, burn, quench until I saw your video of just torching the unrolled mesh. I had to try it to believe it. I'm a believer. :p

I do put one of the wicks down the channels like normal, I trim the second one at the edges of the ceramic cup so basically it's just an extra piece of wick only where the coil is wrapped. I find that works better for me than just doing the single wick by itself. Krinkle method is a good example of where I cut the ends of my second wick, though his method he trims both of them short

Well, being the curious type, I will be trying both ways. Thanks for the help. :)
