Sorry to add, but wanted to say after watching AG's video I follow his method. I think this has definitely helped with wicking. When I fill my tank the mesh wicks within about 30 seconds (give or take). Also, I have noticed my juice does not get discolored where before with oxidizing with juice after half a tank the color would get darker. Now anywhere from Gandalf, Long Bottom Leaf, Wrangler Lite or High Octane stay their actual color.

That is my only concern, if I role a new wick with a small center channel (the small paperclip) would this lead to juice returning to the tank and discoloring (more of a concern of it changing the flavor?) I think the the wick, wicks well, but if it helps would be interested in trying.

As I have seen others post, tinkering is fun but I get to a point I just want a method that works so I can focus on vaping :)

Long post, but wanted to see if others have noticed a major difference with the 28 gauge or 30, such as flavor, less build up on the coil, etc. I have 28 here and 30 will be coming.

gotta say took me a long time to get the pipe, always thought it would be cool but would never pull the trigger on one. The i traded with the maker of the pipe and now i have two. The things actually hit better than any other mod i have. Not sure why they do but i love them for relaxing around the house

Ill speak from personal on the wire. 30 is slightly easier to work with, and would need slightly fewer wraps to attain the same resistance. On the cobra, you only have 1/2 the distance of the post to make clean wraps. Factoring in the 28, you should be prepared for a low res setup. Some juices just taste like crap when it's THAT low. (I find sweet juices better between (1.5-1.8ish). id say the same for anything that has a peppermint. If you still want low but not that low, and an an easier wrap to work with, go 30. With those certain juices, I did want low, but I twisted to attain that while maintaining an easier wrap in a small area.

On my other gennies, I prefer the 28. Using the cobra, the room is just small. You have shorter distance and a smaller wick hole which leads to a smaller wick.

Appreciate the replys, thank you. I had tried to wrap with the 28 real quick by hand and it is pretty difficult. Will be picking up some drill bits to try, or wrap the wick before installing and see how it works. Looking forward to the 30, should be able to get an extra wrap or so and shoot for the 1.7 to 2.0 range.

As far as buildup on the coils, I would think it has more to do with the juice you are using and the ingredients of that juice. I have one juice that almost instantly gunks up the coils regardless of wire gauge.

If you're targeting 1.7-2.0, have you already tried the 32g? In the space alloted, that's an easy wrap.

As for wrapping on the wick before inserting, absolutely. That makes it a ton easier. Then you can space out the wrap nice and neat.

Yep, 32 is all I have used. I find 4/5 wrap gets me 1.9 to 2.0 when first using and a 5/6 wrap gets me 2.3 to 2.5 when starting with the coil. Picked up the other gauges to see if it gives any better experience, plus I could have an extra wrap or so on there depending on the ohms I shoot for.

I have used the 32 to try and wrap on the wick first before installing, but since I have only the one genesis and use that or dripping I don't experiment a lot. I am able to wrap and get a good coil a lot easier now. The only thing I notice is that, like last night, new coil was working great, but then a hot leg showed up after about 1 ml. of juice, and from the looks it seemed there was a lot of gunk on the first coil and I wasn't sure if that what was causing it, after a dry burn and such worked great again.

With the experimenting part that's why I am looking to get a second genesis and trying to decide (when their both available) either the Titanium Bliss or another cobra.

Those "hot legs" usually mean you have too much wire between the wick and pos post. Lossen the top nut and pull it closer so wick is almost leaning into the post then tighten that down. Trim off a little more of the excess.
Another thing to check that's bitten me is when you make the turn between the nuts, if the angle is off, you may leave some wire on the outside of the nut before it actually goes between the nuts. Make sure it comes off the wick and goes right in the space between the nuts and then tighten it down.

A hot leg means it's shorting as soon as it's touching the wick. I have attys that have completely different lengths of wire between the post & the wick. It's glowing because the circuit is being completed.

Do you suggest then just adjusting the wick and/or the where the coil is coming into contact first on the wick, rather then shortening the distance of the coil between positive post and wick? After dryburning and cleaning last night it is working fine again, I did move coils again after dry burning to make sure everything was glowing evenly (or as close as possible.)

Because when the coil gets hot the wires will move. As Killjoy stated, it doesn't take much sometimes.

And that explains that better. On my did, I can nudge until I'm blue in the face with a hot leg. I just can't have extra wire up there. Yet if I pull it in, it's done. On other gennies, it doesn't seem to be as fickle

That top wire gives me fits sometimes too. I use my modified Petar K method to make coils, so I usually move the wick up & down, or pull it out & fire the coil. The combination usually sorts it out.
