You would have 28awg Nichrome, but I don't know the ohms per inch. Not much different than Kanthal I think.

I just twisted 2 1" pieces of .34 nichrome together and got 1.7ohms so I would need almost 2" to get 3.0 ohms. Does this sound right?

I have no idea what gauge that would be.

The Genesis is a bit more efficient at delivering the nic. Might need to step it down a few mg/ml.

As far as mesh goes...400 is great for all purposes and for the price.
Some will swear by other grades, but I wouldn't lie to you.

For wire...32awg is the standard used by most beginners. A 5/4 wrap will usually produce 1.8 ohms.
For 30awg, a 5/4 wrap will produce about 1.4ohms.
For 28awg, a 5/4 wrap will produce about 1.0 ohm.
See the pattern?

Ty, when I get my CObra I am going to have to play around with how many wraps of the 32 to get me to 2.0 to 2.4!

Oh SOMEbody seems to be getting a little .... Well..... Ok, not demanding but.......
:)

Hey there! I'm just trying to get the information out there for others like me who aren't really getting it! I don't even have a cobra (yet) just trying to help the community!

Just had a NIC OD, trying just the wick and coil i brought along with me (using AG's video)...

Not feeling so hot at the moment...

Some times i wonder if i should be left unsupervised

I hope you are feeling better by now!

It'll likely fall into the 6/5 range. But if you're experimenting, it certainly doesn't hurt to go to 7/6 and see where you are. Then you can easily take a wrap away and see what happens when you do.

As for the other, comment. I couldn't pass that up. :)

I'm in the vaping zone thanks be to AG's vid!:vapor: I used the last of the 400 mesh that came with my cobra (40 x 60mm) & 5/4 wrapped 30 awg a1 kanthal the same way AG did. Adjusted hot spots with a toothpick & WOW! Great clouds of vapor & taste. I am currently on my third tank of juice and the cobra is delivering the goods. I currently have flux nectar pear from Gotvapes in my tank & up until now could not taste it. Thanks AG, Phiniac & ECF for all the help. Btw, I love how this is now the unofficial "Cobra Tips & tricks" thread LOL!

Congrats! :toast:
I started watching the vid, but hot interrupted several times. I've had to book mark it.

The cobra ROCKS in performance. The flavor really shines. I've been chugging my chocolate peppermint in this bad boy!

I'm still lacking flavor, guessing I need to tweak the coil more...

Ok. Are you getting throat hit and vapor? Ay harsh vape? What's your current setup?

TH is there, I get more vapor from my boges tho. Not harsh, but I get light juice flavor mixed with either coil or wick taste (not sure) not really a burnt taste, just odd/off.

I'm not home yet, so still the same wick n coil. 34awg if I remember right, about 7 wraps, coming in at 2.8 ohms. Vaping at 4.2 volts, that puts me around 6.5 watts (where I like to be), give or take.

400 mesh, if i remember...

I'd re-wrap the wick.....as long as it is wicking juice and the wick is wet. Try a new coil.
If this is the same setup, and it hasn't broken in yet, start over.

I haven't seen AG's video aside for the first few minutes, but I'll assume that his wick is setup with a mesh rolled on a paper clip. Watch that video and be ready to even try a second mesh and coil setup if just recoiling doesn't work.

In short, torch the mesh, roll it on paper clip, torch it rolled, coil it, insert and assemble. No quench, fire and adjust coils. Mine is like a dream. But I remember a time where something was off and a new setup just worked.

Quick question.

So I really never checked the ohms of my setup between each vape. I'm just seeing the ohms go down slowly after each hit. Does that happen to everyone else? Or are your ohms showing a consistent reading after each vape?

Mine is consistent MrKV but i´ve had that when the coil is too loose on the wick.

An adjustment of +/-.1 maybe, as it breaks in. But if your shifting too bad, no. It shouldn't. I'd check the wrap for space, check for even coils. Rewrap it if needed. Your should ever so slightly disturb the coils when removing the wick. If it comes out and coils don't budge at all, it's definitely too loose. Your should more feel a slight resistance to removal or have to gently twist slight to remove.

Anybody got any Idea why I'm getting such low vapor production? Coil is 5/4 wrap of 30 kanthal, and it is being used on A saber touch with a Kick set to 10watts. It is wicking perfectly, flavor is good, no hot spots, but I'm getting 3x's as much vapor from a IKV 901 atty with the same joose, what gives, any Idea's?

Have you "looked under the hood" while firing the atty? One reason can be that there is a lot of juice there almost causing a bubbling/boiling effect - over wicking. In that case, try vaping on a vertical or give the wick a slight pinch to partially close off the hole.

Of course, I am assuming that you have a center hole with my statement. Is it a solid roll or does it have a hole? Is there any harsh taste? Burn?

Thanks Yankee!! That was my thought when I saw the bubling, so I'gonna pinch the top and see what happens. As for harsh taste, not really, burning, not really, but my 901 does taste better!!
