I hear you, I am sure in time there will be a rba that will fit the Mini's

I bored out the top of a Mini 2.0 (18490) and it rocks. Love this little pocket mod.

This was the most scariest mod I have done to a REO. :)

Thanks. I think I'll hold off for a bit and use my ERAs on REOs that they will fit without adapter and keep on using the cartos on the smaller REOs. I use the Minis and 18490s virtually every day as they are so carry-n-run friendly.

Hugs, Feisty Alice

Not here yet. Mail comes around 4pm PST. :)

I will post back latter tonight. I have appointments to day and will not be back in tell around 5-6 PM my time.

From looking at the specs if it fits it will only fit the grands. 14.1mml in diameter so its going to be to be a close fit even in the grands. If it fits at all.

arrived?
does it work?

I'm curious :D

I'll be interested to hear the result. This one apparently uses bottom airflow... you may have to plug the bottom air holes and drill one in the side to get the good airflow to produce the good vapor you have become accustomed to :D. I am not against using an adapter, if needed. Does the pheonix fit on all the REOs MX?

Wayne sent me one of these so I took it apart and made it a bottom fed atty . You will need a drill press a 5/64 and a 1/16 drill bit a 5/8 end mill and a small file . The atty is made of brass so its easy drilling and milling .One could probably do this with a large drill bit instead of a end mill . I tried to use tools that lots of you guys would have at home .I wanted to use the lath but I had to see if it could be done with the basics .
Here is a pick you can see I milled it down along with the neg and pos posts .I will break this down more for those that are interested but I am beat and ready to hit the sheets .I am not sure were you guys get these but I can see me making a couple of these

Well I got my phoenix clones in and finally have time to work on them. Hoping Rob or someone else who has successfully modded one of these can give some last minute tips on what to do or better yet, NOT to do. I have several gauges of ss blunt needles to use as sleeves once I drill the attys. Not clear on whether I need to do anything with the pin on the grand or the one on the atty. Basically any summarization would be helpful in preventing a melted spring.

Thanks in advance.

Bottom feed RBA's are getting common enough, and cheap enough where it might not even be worth modding anything else. The A7 I got from Empire Mods is working just fine and squonking is a breeze. It may not be the best thing in the world, Wayne the Waping Wizard, (Vaping wouldn't have rhymed), is certainly a better judge than me. An A7 costs less than 1 HH357.

OKC Vapes must have a stock of Fatty RBA's, I ordered one on Friday and it shipped Saturday and even ERA's are getting easier to get.

What do I know, I'm just an old man who'd rather take a kick in the private parts with a frozen boot than go back to smoking... anything that works even reasonably well is good enough for me.

Jack I think in time there will be more to pick from with these BF- RBA's but for now we are stuck moding stuff that was not ment to work this way.

My A7 should be here today, Talked to Mike last night he was not impressed but I will give it a go and let every one know what I think It may have a easy mod to get to work as good as the ERA but I need to look at it first. The Fatty is not a BF atty but a nice dripper got one yesterday. I need to give it a few days before forming an OP about it.

More latter after the Mail Man show up :)

:)

The main possible downside I've seen with the A7 is that it's a very airy draw which many people may not like, I happen tp prefer it but it would probably be more attractive if it was easily adjustable.

Very interested to hear your qualified opinion of it... I know I've had $20 atties die in less time than I've been using this and I've only had it for 24 hours.

You have quite a way with words my friend. I find myself looking forward to your posts. I wish there was a way I could subscribe to them!

Mike said it was a very airy draw. I like the draw a litter tighter. I am on the fance about the air flow coming up from the bottom. The ERA and Challis come from the side and is fare better then a standard atty that draws from the bottom.

I will give it a good work out and see what I come up with. From talking to Mike last night it dose work for sure. and for $20.00 is well worth it.

Ok got to run in to town to get some work done.

Chat latter after the mail man comes. :)

You are very kind sir, I appreciate your sentiments.

Amazon put my first novel on Kindle format a couple months ago but I don't want to violate ECF rules by mentioning the title. (I've been kicked out of enough clubs and organizations in my lifetime.)

Here are a few issues that I have with the A7 that I bought.
Note these are only things that I have observed on my unit.
1: The atty smelled and tasted like cutting oil used in a machine shop. (I would give the atty a good washing just to be sure)
2: The screws are not long enough to grip the wire tightly, first noticed while checking the ohms, it was jumping between 1.3 & 3.2 ohms.
3: After fixing the screw issue I found that when tightened the holes drilled in the posts are sharp and will cut the coil wire with ease.
4: While this unit does work on a Grand or a VVG, the catch cup will fill up with juice. While the A7 is installed to the Grand or VVG there is very little area to see the juice in the cup. This is more of an issue with VVG owners as the juice can over flow and get into your mod and possible kill the electronics. You can however blind squonk with the A7.
5: For some this is a big deal, for me I will just lung hit the thing. The draw is airy. It is by far the aeriest atty that I have used.

I built another good quality coil and placed it in the atty and attached it to my VVG. I will give it a go and see if my mind changes, I will have to hide my ERA so it will not taunt me while I am using the A7.

Well I opened em up and gave it a shot. First one had a broken post right out of the post so I am down to 2. seconds drilled out just fine. pressed in the needle and cursed while i got it back together. The eyes are not what they used to be I am afraid. Slapped it on the provari and it tested fine. Pulled the pin up a tough on the bf 510 connector and screwed it on. Hmm nada, added a 510 shorty unsealed connector and we have lift off. Very airy draw and so-so flavor. Decent vapor. This on the stock coil after washing all parts and a PGA soak. Flavor should get a bit better as wick was not totally dry. Main issue I see is without milling down the sides of the well and shortening the posts the way Rob shoed in his picture, the coil sits 1/4" off the floor of the well so it relies on pure wicking since juice can not get high enough to soak the coil before running back down the feeder hole. Not ideal but fun experiment and works ok, just not a chain vaping machine. Worth the cost for the experience.

I could grind the sides of the well down lower but main main issue is the pin height and not sure how I would lower them yet as they are just press fit into the base.
