Beautiful, what is that beauty on the right? Nice

Please do not take offense by this, but.....
I am by no means a Genesis guru, but I would say you have a bad hot spot from the top of that coil to the post.
Maybe I am wrong, but the 1 Genesis style I have would curl my taste buds like that.

:vapor:

No offense taken. I posted the pic to get constructive criticism. Heres a pic with the coils lit up. Seems to vape wonderfully.

My 1st mod, The Smoking Gun, 4.8V, loving it with 2.0 ohm dual coil cartos in a tank.

Did you guys see the size of that chicken?!?!

At a glance people are going to think your about to commit suicide. Being a carpenter myself, this comes in at a strong 2nd place to the tape measure mod.
Well done :toast:

I decided to give microcoils a go this evening. I'm double fisting my vapes right now to compare. In one hand, I've got a Kayfun 3.1 with a 30-gauge, 13-wrap, 2.2 ohm coil driven by my gg stealth crowned at 10 watts. In the other, a Penelope with a 34-gauge, 2-over-3 turn 1.8 ohm coil powered by a pure mech P+ 18500. Both setups employ a single strand of 3mm silica. My initial impressions are as follows.

The throat hit on the microcoil is exceptional. Vapor production is similar on both setups. Flavor saturation is weak though. Aside from the TH, the microcoil tastes rather underwhelming.

The more traditional P+ setup really exposes each component flavor of my coconut vanilla custard cupcake. While the throat hit is less pronounced, the flavor intensity is aggressively rich and satisfying, like I've actually just eaten a cupcake.

I've tried dual coils. I've tried sub-ohm vaping, and now I've tried microcoils. There's no trendy vogue with which I've experimented that has offered any significant improvement over more traditional, fewer wraps, thinner gauge and sane resistance single coils. Microcoil vaping probably sounds impressive to people who want to sound impressive. It probably feels more like smoking to people who don't assign a lot of importance to flavor. Since I dig complex bakery-type flavors, though, I think I'm fine with my boring, scantily-wrapped, thin gauge coils.

Thanks for posting your findings rojo, I guess I must be "boring" too:) I keep hearing about all the cool setups, and I too, end up with similar findings. More vapour is always a plus, psychologically for me. Its cool. But it usually means more TH, and more heat which I really dont like.

When you say thinner wire, how thin do you like? I myself keep trying 33, 34 and 36 and just dont seem to like it as much for my ohm preferences. I like lite minty fruits and NET tobaccos at 6-12mg max tobacco. I guess Im a "wimpy" vapor in the scheme of trends.

I havent tried a single wick, just somehow got in the habit of the single with a bowtie on top. Is it a faster wick? What ratio of PG/ VG do you use? I like 50/50 or higher VG, up to 70%, any higher and it just seems heavy not just in taste but in my lungs.

My memory is off at times, do you have an Ithaka and or Ody? I think I remember you having GG atomizers.

34 gauge at about 1.8 ohms seems to be my sweet spot for pure mech, and 2-2.2 ohms when kicked/crowned. I can get a similar taste with 3/4 wraps of 32-gauge when comparing new coil against new coil, but 34 gauge seems to stay fresh tasting for an extra tank refill or two more than 32 for me. I've never tried 36 gauge, but it might be interesting to try kicked or on a twist cranked up to 4.8v. I'm too broke at the moment and too content with my 34 gauge to bother for now, though.

I use 70/30ish PG/VG. I've used double wick at the coil in the past, but because of the extra thickness you get fewer wraps of coil. It's harder for me to dial in the taste I like with double wick. Single wick stays wet enough for me, so single wick boredom is my thing. :)

Actually, I did need double wick when I used 2mm wick. With 1mm wick I used to use 6x wick at the coil.

I've got the Kayfun, two Penelopes, and a Terminator-C v1. I really like the taste of the term-c, but sometimes it's hard to get rid of the old man whistle. Since it draws air through the 510 connection, I'm not sure whether the whistle comes more from the atty or the stealth though. I guess I'll find out when my ELA arrives. :)
