I haven't accepted any PIF's for a couple weeks. In fact, I've stopped even reading the Pay It Forward thread to see if something might interest me. It wasn't a conscious decision to stop, I often saw flavors that I would like to try, but the offers are so large lately that I am intimidated by them. While these offers are very generous, and it amazing to see 80 or 100mls of juice offered, I really just don't want to accept that much from anyone. My stash is relatively small, I DO NOT NEED ANY juice ~ I have enough; but I do not have boatloads of anything, and I wouldn't take a huge offer like that unless I could offer up something "comparable" in return. I understand that it is not necessary, but it is just how I feel. I am always embarrassed when someone feels it necessary to add something to my offer, because I have always tried to offer up something decent

I would like to see PIF offers limited in terms of quantity. Like no more than 30mls total in the offer or something like that. That probably isn't a very popular opinion, but we are all entitled to have one. LOL

On a personal note, my husband had a heart attack Sunday, and I don't know how often I will be here for awhile. He is still in the hospital at the moment, but hopefully will be coming home in the next couple of days. We passed a big hurdle today when the test showed that he will probably not have to have another surgery. Keep your fingers crossed for us. I will check in again when I can.

Thanks to all in PIF ~ I love this group!!

To comment on larger pif- I do it with intent that someone can kind of "UP" their stash a little bit, and get more comfortable. Its not intended that another large pif be put back up. I like personally seeing small and large pif's as they all serve a purpose. I would only regret giving a large pif if I knew the taker ALREADY had a huuuge stash, and just got greedy. But allowing some with less, to step up a accept a large order, then reset to small pifs is expected, and my intent. I might need to refine my thinking here if its an issue. I don't mean to compete with anyone, or 1 up anyone. That's a competitive nature, and not mine, ...unless I'm challenged :p
But I regularly test vendors and supplies. I know I'm wasteing my money, as I wont like a lot of stuff I order, as many do, just on a bigger scale.. So I throw it out for others to sample, and recirculate, as I cant afford to mail it ALL myself separately. If I wasnt in this lifestyle persay, I probably wouldnt be able to do what I do, at least not the quantity. But I also like seeing responses to liquids, units, special items, etc. Its like a survey to me as well, and pif at the same time.

But Also, and this one is important...when I give a LARGE pif...not only can that person recieve an order and feel like Christmas, I also PURPOSEFULLY leave the door wide open for that person to have plenty to use and sample, as well as be able to come BACK and have a pif to give, and experience the same feeling I get by giving. I love killin 2 birds with 1 stone every chance I get. I want everyone to understand THAT concept, if no other. For a new person to be able to FULLY participate is a true gift, and the kind I dig.

Pif is not about how large or how small the offer , there are many here who have been vaping a long time, of course it makes sense they have more to offer, that they are willing to is even more special!

There are many who are newcomers, and dont have much , with the help of fellow members and taking pif offers it is not long before they too can offer more. Without that help they may not ever be able to .

This is about helping each other.

no matter how large or small the offer , you never know, you may just have that one thing that someone is waiting for
hoping for , even if it is a piece of fluval.

Then there are those that live on a fixed income, so I offer my work instead of juice or equipment, well , it is what I can do to
keep the supplies going here to vape, and I make no apologies for not putting up huge offers of juice or equipment, I dont have a lot of that now, but I do have a certain amount of skill ,so I put that to use instead for PIF .

We all do what we can when we can, that is the heart of PIF.

No one should feel bad to take a larger offer on PIF, that is what this group is all about.

There is no need to redefine your thinking. That is the way PIF is supposed to be.

Lately it has gotten, well, weird is the only word that comes to mind. The whole atmosphere of PIF is like you are sitting on razors and afraid to take an offer if you don't have a half a gallon of juice to offer back and that is not what PIF is or ever was supposed to be about. People have become so afraid of being "taken" that any new person that comes in and takes a large offer is then had a search done on them to see what else they are doing. If I was a new member here and saw that I would run like hell. I've been here since the beginning and right now I am not comfortable with what I have to offer so I just sit it out. That's bad when I don't feel like I can make a satisfactory offer, sad too.

We all do what we can when we can, that is the heart of PIF.

And that is exactly what PIF needs to get back to. Right now the heart is still beating, but the pulse is very weak.

Here is something I want honest answers about.

Knowing, that I have a Chuck, an Ego, a Fist Pack, a special one of a kind 7V mod, 510 and an 808...Seeing the pictures of my stash that most of you have seen, what would you do if I went in the wants and needs thread and said I wanted to try some Mrs T's Snickerdoodles? Don't think of this as Jules asking but as someone else. I know you all would give me your last drop if I asked for it.

Knowing that I have all that equipment and all the juice I have, am I a bad person for wanting to try something without forking out a ton of cash to make sure it is something that wouldn't go to waste just sitting here? Am I a bad person for wanting to try a sample of this?

Now, before you answer, know this, I want honesty. This is a question that has been in my head for a few days now and to be honest, it is brought out by all the things that have been going on lately. No one is going to be banned or have their post deleted or edited unless it breaks PIF/ECF rules and there are no repercussions for honesty. I want to see which direction the ethics of PIF has went.

Without reading through all of the answers, here is how I feel..

If you posted on the wants/needs thread, and stated just that.. that you wanted to try something, I would send it to you in a heartbeat. No second thoughts, no expectations of anything in return, I'd just send it.

Now.. on another note: if you said it was a "need", I'd probably send anyway. We all have good and bad times, and in this economy, it's really hard to have anything be constant.

However, if I saw you post a need and then saw you posting around the forum about buying other stuff.. that I would have a real hard time with... and I've seen it happen time and again lately. (have more to say on that subject, but I'll stop there. I love this group too much to see it dissolve over a few wrong doings)

I have read some of the replies, and this is going to be a bit all over the place...

Let me start by saying that I'm currently having a guilt trip about not being that involved the past week or so. Maybe some of you have noticed... but things have gotten REALLY crazy for me lately, and I've barely had time to sleep or think, let alone PIF. I really want to, because I recently got a PIF gift that was amazing and I feel like I need to be more involved here again. I will be, in the coming weeks. But I just got blitzed over those videos. It's been nuts.

That out of the way...

Jules, honest answer, no, I wouldn't be mad if you posted a Want. A Want is just that. Even if you are pretty well-set up, it's not unreasonable to not want to pay $10 including shipping just to try out a juice you may or may not like. Even if you've got the cash (I don't know if you do or don't, but even if you do), there's nothing wrong with being careful with it. And if you're posting it as a Want and not a Need, you are being honest that you're not going to die if you don't get this juice, but that you'd just like to try some, and thus there is no ethical problem.

To others -

I have felt this much-discussed black cloud lately. I admit, I am one of those people who has the urge to "look people up" if I don't recognize them. I'm just a slightly paranoid person. I have been trying not to do this lately.

But it's sad to me to see people with so many mixed emotions about PIF. PIF is basically what has allowed me to continue being smoke-free. Part of the reason I never post Wants is because I have had several Needs that were always generously and over-zealously met. It just doesn't seem right to me to be posting Wants, at least right now. Not when I've been so needy in the recent past.

I try not to feel bad that although I'm doing fine for myself, I don't have enough to post really big offers. Now-a-days (at least before the video thing exploded my life), I try to stick to offers of whatever size that have a couple things I'd like to have or need, and one thing I don't want/need that I can put back through PIF.

PIF is responsible for me continuing to vape. There, I said it. It's totally true. YOU ALL are why I'm not smoking right now.

I don't know what the solution is. But I just wanted you all to know that you're responsible for keeping one more person off cigarettes.

I will be Paying It Forward for the rest of my life. That's a priceless gift.

I want to address the main question of the topic, but first I wanted to again thank MistressNomad for the work she put in on that video series for newbies. Maybe you haven't been as active in this particular group just recently, but if you think you haven't payed it forward, you're crazy! You put a lot of time, effort and succinctly distilled knowledge into those vids... I don't think you'll ever know how many people you've helped with that!

Now on to the actual question:
I don't see a thing wrong with posting a want for anyone, no matter their "stash" or financial situation. I'm new here, so I don't know about recent PIF drama... but I can't say I'm surprised to learn there was some. Anytime you have a group like this set up to help people who need it, there will be those less needy/more greedy types who will take advantage. And no amount of rules or guidelines or policing will eliminate them completely... what's more, they will more than likely do what they seem to be doing now which is alienate the good people who are truly devoted to the group.

Now people are second guessing themselves. People are worried about looking greedy or about not being able to offer as much as someone else and the spirit of the group is being stifled by all the negative feelings!

Sending blessings out into the world should be a wonderful thing! It helps me to say to myself that I would rather see 4 out of 5 people take advantage of my generosity just so long as that 5th person gets the help they truly needed. :)

You have hit the nail on the head. That is the whole point I've been trying to get everyone to see and to stop worrying so much about how much they are offering as a new vaper. This was not set up so that everyone gets rich. It was set up to help the ones in need and to have good feelings towards each other instead of constant suspicion. We are going to get taken advantage of. Get used to it. If we let the few that do that to us turn us all into wary cynics then they have won and humanity loses a point.
