*** Battery is programmed to fit consumers needs the best. This includes a 7 second cutoff [instead of the standard 5] and only a 10 second cool down period (if you reach that cutoff) instead of the standard 2 minutes.

While personally I haven't been able to hit the cutoff on my Pilot Hybrid 401 battery for some reason, on the shorter 402 battery the cutoff comes after approximately 8 seconds and lasts for 2 minutes (I timed it and have experienced it three times). A couple other users have also reported long cutoff times on the Pilot Hybrid on another thread here. What's up... did something go wrong with the programming? The 10 second cool down is a major selling point of the Pilot over similar versions...

Other than the short battery cutting off for 2 minutes (twice in rapid secession I think) making me think it had died, I've had no problem with the short or two long batteries I got last Thursday... it seems strange that you would have two bad batteries.... One of my two ePuffer Eaze Magnum batteries did die after only a couple days, so I know how you feel.

Same here, I timed both batteries and they cut off for 2 minutes. The led on the long battery (401) is pretty dim compared to the short battery's led, the long one also seems to produce less vapor. The really annoying thing is that my long battery seems to go into cut-off mode almost randomly. They are both lasting a decent amount of time I guess. I vape pretty heavily and they are each lasting for around 1-2 hours of very frequent use.

This Pilot Hybrid was ordered on Monday (Feb 16) and I received it on Thursday.

The good news is we all purchased this from Puresmoker, who we all know will rectify any issues... I seem to have bad luck with batteries, as my DSE901 is having very similar issues. The funny thing is my first ecig the NPRO, which usually receives terrible reviews is still working strong after two months. Unfortunately working strong for a NPRO isn't much to talk about as the vapor production and throat hit have been awful since the very beginning.

Right on. If I was having a similar issue with some other supplier's product I would be really upset. Puresmoker has a good rep and are known for taking care of their customers, so I'm not too worried.

All four of my regular Pilot batteries have a 2 minute cool down as well. :-(

Yesterday, I asked Steve what's up with that using the Puresmoker webpage support, and if he replies I'll post it here.

Alright, here's the response:

Hey Randy,

Our samples that we originally got, were 10 seconds. They did NOT carry over to the production line, and I actually need to change that in our product description.

We do apologize about that, luckily, the 7-8 second cutoff is still in effect instead of the 4-5 second (or shorter) cutoff!

Thanks Randy,

Steve

well i must admit this thread has slighly put me off getting a pilot. i only wanted one so i didnt have to go thru that poxy 2 min cut off..............and after all, that was why it was hyped up so much i thought.

dont get me wrong im sure it is a fantastic e-cig still, and the 7 second cut off is still an excellant reason to get one. (and i probably will!)

it makes me wonder though as ive heard of a new e-cig model 401 that has the 7 second drag time like the pilot, but "claims" to have only a 20 second shut down time. but after reading the post from steve i wonder if it is just a "claim" that also wont be possible.

and before anyone starts accusing.............no, its not from intellicig!

I should also add ... we are trying to add it back in to the line, but we are not 100% sure it can be done :(

if they managed to do it with the samples they sent you, why would they not be able to put it into the production line?

(not having a dig at you steve, just curious as to why they would say its not possible when they proved it can be done by sending you a 10 second sample!)

There's a lot of issues with the pilot batteries, Scott...The cut-off is the least of them.

See all of the thread regarding them being WAY too sensitive and activating constantly.

I'm glad there's a new EVO dealer in the U.S., now. That means I can get reputable 401's and parts any time I need them.

hi terraphon,

yeah i had read a few posts where guys had said that they started activating when they was watching live bands play in the bars and also when driving with the radio on!

but i wonder if that is just primarily with the pilot batteries and not others. i cant say that ive experienced anything like that with the EVO battery or any of the other e-cig batteries i have............

however, i keep all my e-cigs and spare batteries in a tool box which are all neatly lined up in a row. when i unclip the clasp it sets off every battery and e-cig in there momentarily! its like a row of fairy lights being turned on!

but that is the only time ive noticed the e-cigs i own activating on their own accord.
