Dunno if anyone here has purchased Mycroft's pieces from the UK, but I bought a lovely converted estate pipe from him that arrived in the mail last week.
Pros: Absolutely gorgeous pipe. Exactly what I wanted. It fit both my Kanger and my Kayfun without any need for the ego converter (keep in mind in saying this I'm not tech savvy yet, as you'll see below). Hard rubber stem looked awesome on my Kayfun. Smoke was good and battery life lasted longer than I suspected.
Cons: Nonremovable battery. This means plugging it in and sending it overseas when the battery goes out.
Now, the ugly part. When I received the unit, I wasn't aware (read: I didn't pay attention) that the battery was not interchangeable. In hindsight, this is not unexpected, as it is a converted estate pipe and, thus, is not wood designed around conveniently hosting a frankenstein setup. As such, I had no charger for it as I didn't order the package that included the "fast Ego" charger he recommended, so I attempted to use the standard eGo charger at the store. Also, I'd had the local shop wire my Kayfun at about an ohm for using on my little
smok pipe mod, and didn't account for any possible effect this would have on his unit.
One of these two things, or, possibly, a design flaw or shipping damage, eventually sapped the ability of my pipe to blow smoke from my
tanks or to charge when plugged in. When I first started, it would fill the room with smoke from anything. One week later, only my Kayfun would light on it, and that's if I had it screwed in the correct place (which happened to be a very loose fit).
Mycroft believes the fix should be easy, but if it isn't, he'll provide a full refund. He was responsive through the whole ordeal and very reasonable. I recommend business with him any time, but hate the fact that he's not in the States. In the meantime, I'm still in the market for a new wooden mod, and nothing over at epipemods suits my fancy (this would have been my dream, though:
