DTR, I strongly recommend you grab an EpipeMod, as they are about to post 8 more today at 4, although you may have to wait for shipping as they are off to Vapefest soon. I just bought an Ironwood "Egg" style, and it is small, and tough. The design of these pipes is clever. There are pros and cons but very few, they are made in Georgia and support is great. Alas, my pipe "developed" a crack in it just before it was shipped, but the pipe is just so cool that I cannot bring myself to send it back! I think the Egg style is the smallest they make and has the thinnest walls, so you "pays your money and takes your choice". This pipe is almost as small as a smok Chrome! They don't envision making another egg soon, but I promise I will pounce. The "Brandy" is similar, but larger, I think. Look at my other posts for a size comparison.

Dunno if anyone here has purchased Mycroft's pieces from the UK, but I bought a lovely converted estate pipe from him that arrived in the mail last week.

Pros: Absolutely gorgeous pipe. Exactly what I wanted. It fit both my Kanger and my Kayfun without any need for the ego converter (keep in mind in saying this I'm not tech savvy yet, as you'll see below). Hard rubber stem looked awesome on my Kayfun. Smoke was good and battery life lasted longer than I suspected.

Cons: Nonremovable battery. This means plugging it in and sending it overseas when the battery goes out.

Now, the ugly part. When I received the unit, I wasn't aware (read: I didn't pay attention) that the battery was not interchangeable. In hindsight, this is not unexpected, as it is a converted estate pipe and, thus, is not wood designed around conveniently hosting a frankenstein setup. As such, I had no charger for it as I didn't order the package that included the "fast Ego" charger he recommended, so I attempted to use the standard eGo charger at the store. Also, I'd had the local shop wire my Kayfun at about an ohm for using on my little smok pipe mod, and didn't account for any possible effect this would have on his unit.

One of these two things, or, possibly, a design flaw or shipping damage, eventually sapped the ability of my pipe to blow smoke from my tanks or to charge when plugged in. When I first started, it would fill the room with smoke from anything. One week later, only my Kayfun would light on it, and that's if I had it screwed in the correct place (which happened to be a very loose fit).

Mycroft believes the fix should be easy, but if it isn't, he'll provide a full refund. He was responsive through the whole ordeal and very reasonable. I recommend business with him any time, but hate the fact that he's not in the States. In the meantime, I'm still in the market for a new wooden mod, and nothing over at epipemods suits my fancy (this would have been my dream, though: V3 Calabash- Briar - Free Hand Pipes - Steam Pipes)

Thanks for some great info Darrin!! sorry you had trouble with you device. That's one of the reasons I'm reluctant to spend over $100 on a pipe. Maybe one day I'll just make my own but until then I'll keep checking for what comes out and buy the new ones as they do. I figure if we buy them, they'll make more of what we want. :toast:

So I got the Sherlock unit listed earlier in the thread. I may be using it wrong, but count me utterly unimpressed! I charged the batteries and gave it a whirl with my Kayfun (1.7 ohms) and my carto (1.25 ohm dual coil) and there is hardly any vapor production. I tried several batteries, same story. I'll probably send this one back, if possible. No way Jose!

Sorry to hear that. Could be a bum device. My Sherlock is still vaping great. I am even running butter rum in it which gunks up the attys some. What tank/juice were you using. With a fresh battery you should have had plenty of power. I have about 7 pipes and the output is about the same on all. The differences I see are in the tanks and the juices but that difference isn't huge. That said, new pipe with new batteries should have vaped like a champ.

I would consider an Epipemod if they had the Gandalf pipe in stock. Every time I look there isn't any. It's a great looking

pipe though. I've wanted one since I saw the review of it on YouTube.

You have to lurk the release.. about every two to three weeks.
Nothing is available until after vape fest.
Look at the fb posting and the epipemods forum.

Tell them Uncle BJ sent you.

Thanks for the forum link. I'll sign up tomorrow and start looking around!! I'm all into pipes now. I have 11 pipes so far and one Cool Fire 2. Love the pipes but I think the next one I get will be a nice one unless I see something that really grabs me. I got a 618 in and it's ok. The only complaint I have is the shutoff timer is SHORT!!! Can't get a good vape in before it cuts out. I'm thinking of taking the pressure swith out and adding a manual switch because I really like the look of the pipe. Any thoughts?

To follow up my earlier post on Mycroft Milverton's pipes, I received the replacement for my defective unit today. Needless to say, for those who are former tobacco pipe smokers, it is a dream come true. I still look forward to owning an ePipe mod in the near future, but the converted Peterson I have in hand (especially now that Mycroft has added a kicker) is excellent, and I'd recommend his work to anyone.

I've posted a full review in the proper forum, but I'd like to echo his good work here as well.

Here's a picture of it, since I forgot to show it off in my above post:

I have to ask a dumb ? Why pipes in the 1st place. Just purely asthetic, they are beautiful. It was smoking pipes in college that got me into smoking analoges in the 1st place. The weird thing was that I wouldn't have cig smokers tell me that my pipe tobbaco stinks.

It's not a dumb question. Since vapor disappears rapidly, there isn't much stink, and as a bonus YOU don't stink. A pipe is always there, you care for it, refill it, and it just works if you get the right combination of stuff. As you know, there's just something to a pipe, unlike a cig. Some of the new pipe makers create pipes that are retro, some could get you busted for paraphernalia. It would be worth a re-visit.

I have never smoked an analog, but I really like the smell of an analog pipe or cigar, but find cigarette smoke quite irritating. I don't know why there is a difference to me.

I have been trying to make some pipe juice more aeromatic to simulate what an analog does. I tried adding PGA, since I have read that some people make their own air fresheners using that. I was also hoping to make it more strongly favored. But, my efforts have failed.
