I managed to get one of them out fairly easy without disturbing the wire coil. Do you know of any good guides or videos on this?

I know Rip Trippers gas a good video on you tube (sorry no link) I believe it's titled rebuilding Kanger protank coils evods and protanks use the same coils so it should work for you.

IT WORKED IT WORKED! YAY!

It took me a while...didn't want to get it wrong. Right from the get go there was vapor. A tiny bit of residual burnt from the coil but it soon went away. Before putting in a new cotton wick on the other spare I have saved I will dry burn the coil just a bit to get any left over ash off.

THANKS EVERYONE!!! Now I will definitely get more life out of these coils...I'm not quite up to the whole wire it all myself yet, but I have plenty of spare cotton :D

I use Evod's and MT3's exclusively. Every weekend I clean my coils. I vape fruity sweet liquids, so they tend to gunk up often.
I do not take the coils apart. I leave everything intact, including the chimney and wicks. Well except for taking the tank and base off. ;)

I wash the tanks and bases in hot water and then run them through the ultrasonic a few times.
I only wash them in vodka if I have had a strong flavor in them. Vodka seems to eat off the rubberized coating on them.
Rinse again, shake off the excess and then stand them up on a paper towel to dry overnight. The next day I lay them on their sides to finish drying.

I take the coils and run them in a kitchen strainer under hot hot water. I let them soak for a day in vodka after that.
Once that is done I rinse them again, several times, til I can not smell the vodka.
Then I run them through the ultrasonic a few times. Rinse again, them lay out to dry on a paper towel.

I do not dry burn them, as every time I have, I get that skunky burnt taste. Not sure if its just these coils, but haven't had that issue on others.

I've been running on the same coils for quite a while now. I toss them only when they finally stop working or are not working well after a few hours of use.
You can learn to rebuild them, but I don't bother with it. My hands don't work well, and my eyes are worse.
