I have a Just GG and have been using it with a kick installed. I have the wattage set to about 7. Is this too high? Not highe enough? Should I even use the kick??

Ok. A little confused since you asked for help. Is it vaping badly?
Here is my take on the vape, kick or not. If it tastes great and satisfies everything you want it to satisfy, then it's good for you.
With that said, 7 is "generally" on the lower side of the range. Many will vape above 8, 9, etc. It really is a matter of finding where your sweet spot is.
Also try without a kick. See how it vapes.
Without a kick it's (V x V) / ohms and it'll give you an idea of your wattage.

It vapes good, but tastes a little burnt...not shure if it's the kick or something else!
If your mp is open and feeding juice, pull the kick and see how it vapes. What ohm did you coil at? It does seem odd to have a 7W setting burn. It's not that high at all. But. Maybe take this a little further and let us know more. New coil? Ohms, setup and config? Open juice control?
Could be a loose wick inside coil too (portion of coil gets red hot). I used to get burnt taste alot before I learned that the wick needs to be in contact with the coil at all times.
Protanks aren't the best atty to use on high wattage. So 7 may be where your juice/coil combo works best. I am using microcoiled protank with cotton in a VTR at the moment that works great at 12 watts. If you are getting burned taste on a protank try removing one of the flavor wicks. Or do what worked best for me and flip the rubber piece above the coil upside down and leave the flavor wicks. I was able to use a Protank regularly with the rubber flipped at about 10-10.5 watts.
