I am re-posting this from another thread as recommended since this is where the Prodigy V2 experts are :)

Tryed my new Prod V2 last night using 510 cart/atty.
The cart was stuffed w/ blue foam which was saturated with juice (PG/VG mix) and droped 1 drop on the atty (dry) before inserting the cart.

Stick in my 2 CR123 batts, screw on my atty, and fire away!!

Oh Oh, smoke (vap) is VERY hot! took about 3 very small hits, still
too hot, removed cart to discover the edges had actually melted!
Yikes! no wonder it was too hot, this thing has the power (5V, which they say is "ideal" for vaping) to fry my carts and atty's every time!

I tryed several ways to do this, including taking out the blue foam (empty cart) and just dripping direct to the atty.
Still too HOT!!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am expecting some cartomizers soon, maybe I will have better luck with those?

BTW, should I be using high or low bridge attys, or does it matter?

You're not melting the atty, you're melting the plastic cart.

When you put the cart on the atty, simply turn it so that the "slot" opening of the cart is lined up with the atty bridge so they do not make contact.

Yes, I did mean to say cart, not atty melting, Oops!!

I do not quite understand what you mean.
How can I tell if my cart is lined up with the bridge?
What am I looking for to do this?

Got several mods around here that are 5V. They do get warm when the liquid is running low. Maybe it's the atty itself. Have you tried a different atty on it?

Or maybe you're taking too long of a draw.

I do have a bunch of attys (all 510, but expecting some cartomizers to play with) and tryed several of them. Same problem with all.

Like I said, I remove the white wick stuff that comes with the 510 carts and stuff it with blue foam. I pull out a few mm of the foam so it can better contact the atty. I am not sure which part of the atty actually needs to make the contact.
I assume it's the little lump of tiny wires in the center!?

I have even tryed removing the wick in the cart (empty cart) and just dripping several drops of juice directly on the atty, but I get the same results, very hot vapor that burns my throat!! :(

No, I am taking very short and gentle drags, no heavy sucking.

P.S. you know what would really help, if I could see a cut-away diagram of a 510 atty and all it's components. Does anyone know if there is such a thing?

I use 510s and what you should do is look down in the atty and you will see rectangle shape that looks just like your carts opening. Make sure to line the bottom rectangle of the cart to match the rectangle on the bottom of the atomizer.

Your not using 3.7 volt Cr123's are you? Just asking to make sure.

If that still does not work than get an exacto knife and trim the cart down a littlle. I dont have this problem with 510s I use which are TW brand and also Joye brand from PS. What or who are yours from?

im pretty sure by pulling out the white wick stuff, you rendered your saturated blue foam useless and the atty is running dry.

you can drip without the white wick, but you cannot use a stuffed cart without it.

The blue foam is used in place of the poly fiber cause it works much better .

BTW OP -Do not pull out the Blue Foam a little bit as descibed above for better atomizer contact. There is no reason for that and might just be your problem as well.

I had the same problem when I first started using my Prodigy V2, I was surprised when I pulled the cart out and the ends were melted!
What really surprised me is that I didn't taste it! I don't know what I am doing know (except using "broken in" atty's) but they are no melting (I am still using the melted cart tho).
I think VapnRealtor has the right idea, trim them off with an x-acto knife

Hey Guys,

This is the main reason we say that our devices are dripping friendly, and don't sell cartridges. Some users have had success with carts on the Prodigy (both V1 and V2), while others just continue to melt them. My 2cents- ditch the cart and try dripping.

But I tried that and it was still hot!!
Maybe I'm not dripping enough?
How much is safe to drip into a 510 before it starts leaking all over the place?

I really dont know about what volts the batts are.
I am using the ones that came with the kit.
Why do you ask?

Here's how I attached the carts - the sections I outlined in red match up. Then again I don't have a 5V device, so this might not help at all.

Sorry for photo quality - taken with my cell and edited in mspaint.

Well, the vapor is going to be pretty darn warm / hot - that's what vaping at 5 volts does. Perhaps you're just not used to it yet. ;-)

Regarding dripping on a 510 at 5 volts, here's what I have found to be ideal:

On a totally dry 510 atty that hasn't been used yet (or has just been cleaned), drip 5 drops right onto the bridge.

Once you're up and running, drip another 3 drops as soon as it starts to taste burnt - this will probably happen about every 5-8 drags on your V2.

Hope this helps!
