FYI, I was not suggesting that my post was the issue here. But it can be. Just something else to consider.

Heh, even if you were suggesting it I would be hard pressed to find that offensive. I never understood the cult of youth in this country. I was a kid once. Guess what it sucked. For me life only started to get half way decent after turning 30.

Ok guys so a little update, the breathing problem was ironically when i used 2 flavors, first was french vanilla (felt sick, couldnt breath after the gym) then this morning, RY4 double.. maybe that had something to do with it? all morning I was still using the RY4, still couldnt catch my breath, I cleaned out the vivi and put in my new KOOL ejuice (menthol) AND BOOM! snowstorm hit my throat and i was breathing like a champ very weird, but yey I will also try some juices with a bit more VG, I might try to stick to non coffee/vanilla flavors, today in the mail I got winston, beach smoothie, peanut butter, and after 8 mint, all 80/20 pg/vg with 24 nic from my favorite east coast online shop :)

also, to the person who said it might be my age, thank you very much i am going to cry in the corner now! :-( I am only 31!

*cries*

Ok so again, 2 weeks of vaping, and every now and then when i am at the gym i get so short of breath that I have to sit and focus on breathing, doesn't always happen though, maybe 2nd time this morning, even now at home im still out of breath. first of all how i am vaping currently:

vamo, vivi nova, 2.4 ohms, was vaping at 4.2v usually, upped it to 4.8, then back down to 4.4. using a 70/30 pg/vg RY4, 20nic (usually use 24nic)

but here is the funny part, i weight trained and studied multiple martial arts for years, while being a heavy smoker (1.5-2 packs a day) and NEVER got this short of breath, only now that i switched to vaping, does anyone have any ideas why? is it the pg/vg mix? getting used to breathing properly after 10+ years? if I have to quit vaping cause of this i'll be very upset.

please give me some ideas :-(

When I first began vaping I immediately made an appointment with my Dr cuz I wanted him to know that I had quit smoking and, more importantly, had begun vaping. Although not schooled in Vaping he gave me many good factual tips. I also spoke with his smoking cessation expert who really impressed me with her openness and knowledge. It was nice that they were both very supportive but it wouldn't have made any diff in my decision as I'm a stubborn SOB :D
Because I have allergies I was told to be aware of allergic reactions to PG, VG, and flavorings.

VG
Some have a sensitivity to it making their lungs feel "heavy'. Realize not all VG are equal in quality- some are made from animal byproducts and some from plant material. The finest quality of all is synthetic glycerine like Dow's Optim, it is 100% synthetic and 100% pure, and many pharma sources are changing their PG inhaler base over to that as they find it's a better choice. It's true that 3 years back, veg glycerine was the best choice as animal glycerine was the main alternative. The non synthetic VG are made from so many different feedstocks, in so many different ways, that it can't be guaranteed that someone will be intolerant to a variety that others find no problem to vape.

PG
All PG mixes should essentially be the same, as PG is a synthetic product. There are many vapers that cannot tolerate PG in large doses. Some have had to go to 100% VG with distilled water as a thinner.

Flavoring
Because most vendors understandably prefer to keep their recipes secret we really don't know what they consist of. This is the reason Organic juice vendor are becoming very popular...most of their client base are customers that have experienced sensitivity to the ingredients. Myself I'm allergic to Ethyl Maltol, a sweetener used in juice- caused cankers in my mouth which went away as soon as I stopped using it. Gave it to a friend and he LOVED and vaped it without issue. Fortunately for myself there are sweetener alternatives.

It was explained to me that the lung cilia that had been buried in tar and paralyzed by the tobacco chems ( true fact) would begin regrowth within days and the lungs would be very stressed for a period of time (regrowth= good stress) The other area that would be stressed was the nervous system. It was recommended that I partake in some deep breathing exercises. Seeing as I LOVE swimming into the pool/ Bay I went. Lots and lots of phlegm and unknown grossness came up but it was all good. When I was younger I was heavily involved in all types of sports- swimming, Rugby, Football, Lacrosse, Boxing, Kendo and few other martial arts. I didn't attempt to get back into these activities, except for swimming, for 8 months cuz I had smoked for 44 yrs. Although not a superstar I've joined a few senior's league and and am having a ball. Also teach Kendo to kids in the Summertime.

One last point. The brain has been re wired to be "analog acceptable" and is used to our red blood cells carrying a full load of oxygen+ chems. All of a sudden they not carrying a full load to the brain and the brain is feeling "cheated" and thus sending signals to the lungs and the nervous system. Getting past the nicotine is one part of the struggle but there's also the psychological and physiological aspects of this endeavor in regards to re wiring the brain. Beyond our lungs smoking has changed many other important functions of our bodies.
Overall I would begin testing certain things- maybe try diff ratios of PG/ VG. PG/ VG can be cheaply bought at the pharmacy. Keep a journal of everything you vape and compare notes as to how you feel with certain flavors, PG/ VG ratios, etc. If looking for organic juice I've tried and their stuff was AMAZING...they also put a lot of effort into trying to resolve clients sensitivity issues- very nice people

wow, very nice post, thank you very much.

You're very welcome sivo and thank you for the Like and the compliment. In a few months once things are sorted out you'll look back, laugh and be able to share YOUR STORY OF SUCCESS with others... I know it'll happen. The HUGE eye opener for me was speaking with the Smoking Cessation Expert...I was expecting some snooty nosed nurse that was going to try and dissuade me from vaping..quite the opposite and caught me off guard as she provided me with so much factual information I almost fell out of my chair. Just be forewarned not all smoking cessation experts are as open minded as the one I was lucky enuff to speak with....I know that from experience.
Cheers.

just befor i quit smoking i started using a inhaler just befor i went to bed
,because i would jump up in the middle of the night trying to get my breath..

I'm by far, no doctor, and I'm new to Vaping, but thought I'd throw in something I just found out from my fathers respiratory specialist. We never would have consider sleep apnea, but the doc believes my father may have it, cuz he does the exact same thing. According to his lung specialist, when you get short of breath while sleeping, your brain doesn't get enough oxygen, at that point, it triggers your brain to wake you up so you can breath. Edit! Forgot, Due to your lungs having to strain to breath while sleeping, it also makes it harder to breath during the day...cuz your lungs are exhausted.....There are medications to help with that. Just a little food for thought! :)

Bro, well I assume bro, I have shortness of breath frequently (and yes I'm pretty physically active too though I'm not a gym rat, I have a physically demanding job and regularly walk and ride a bike to work every day) and I'm only 33! I'll let you in on a little secret I've found. Life actually gets better as you get older. Or at least it did for me. Being a teenage sucked, maybe a really young child like under 10 was okay--but I had no power over my own life so that sucked. And when I was in my 20s I had no money, and that sucked.

So given the choice between freedom to do what I want when I want and the ability to do it, or having a conologically young body...I'll take the former.

I have this also, and right now I'm trying to narrow down the cause.

1. I was off nicotine for 6 1/2 agonizing years before I started vaping. So, it can't be my lungs healing from smoking because I've been through that.

2. I'm an asthmatic and have terrible allergies. My asthma has been insane lately because I live in Texas where we have Mountain Cedars, or shall I call them, Death Trees. The tree pollen here has been over 10.0 on the scale for 11 weeks. So, it could be just this. I only use albuterol for my asthma, but I'm dependent on it. It was this way before vaping, and is still this way now. I'm just using the inhaler once every 2 or 3 hrs, instead of once every 4 or 5.

3. It might be the cartos I just started using, or perhaps it could be PG. I don't know yet. Still testing that out. I seem to have less issues with menthols.
