Hello. I'm trying to find replacement coils for my smoktech Pyrex mbc v1, so I FINALLY found a website. It is asking me for resistance options. 1.4-4.0. Idk which one to order because idk the difference. It came w a 1.8 ohm coil. I went to a local smoke shop and they said I should try a 2.5 ohm coil. Issue is the threading is a little off so my mvp doesn't always recognize it. So, mum thing is what is the difference with the resistance. Please help.

You can pick anything from 1.5 up to 2.8ish that you want. Since you have VV/VW you would use a lower setting for lower ohms and a higher setting for higher ohms :)

Edit To Add - saw post above - 1.8 Ohms will *not* produce more vapor than 2.5 unless you were using a fixed voltage device.

With a higher resistance coil, you're going to need more voltage out of your battery to get the same power output - if you're vaping more "delicate" juices that tend to get a burnt taste if the power is turned up too high, 2.5 ohm might make sense. If this hasn't been a problem for you, I'd say go with more of the 1.8's you've been using.

Also, for ease of locating coils, someone clued me in that Kanger MT3S coils (but not the ones for EVOD/Protank I/II) work in the Smok products - after having a hell of a time finding the Smok ones in stock anywhere I picked up a couple of the Kangers at a local B&M and they work like a charm in my Pyrex AROs.

If you go for something around 1.5-1.8 you'd want to be vaping it around 3.5-4v for a vape which the majority would enjoy (warm, dense, nice vapor production). If you go for something 2.2-2.5 you can up the voltage a little to hit the same sweet-spot, 4 - 4.5.

Or if you just set your MVP to 8 watts, it will automatically dial in to the resistance of the coil. So play around with the wattage settings. If you like an 8 watt vape, you can just leave it there and the ohms become irrelevant.

Yep, they do! I have one of those and it's little brother Aro 2. I don't separate any of the heads when I go to rebuild and they all fit in the protanks, evods and Aros.

Correct - the MT3S coils fit everything, even the EVOD/PT. Wish I'd have known that before I acquired about 30 PT coils that will take me years to burn through even without rebuilding since I rarely use those devices any more.

Ok yes I have had that problem.. it does taste burnt at times. But the issue I'm having w the coils I purchased is the threading is a little different. So the mvp has a little trouble recognizing that the tank is screwed on there. But when it does the 2.5 does seem to produce more vapor. Right now I have it set to 4.0 watts and 9.5 volts ( I may have that backwards. Still having trouble figuring out what the "U" and "P" means) and it's working pretty well so far.

Ok so I should just stick w the 2.5?;

Also is there a good site I can order the coils from? It seems difficult to find coils for the Pyrex smoktech tanks

9.5 watts is quite powerful. Your mod is going to give you that power regardless of the resistance of the atomiser.

U = volts. P = watts.

If it were me, I'd buy something in the 1.8-2.2 range and set the watts (P) to 7.5 and take it from there.

All my mini tanks (mini Protanks, T3S, evod, iClear16) would all taste burnt at 9.5 watts.

Oh ok I got it. For some reason it doesn't taste burnt at all right now. BUT w the 1.8 coil it would taste burnt. The 2.5 I have now it doesn't taste burnt at all. But I'm going to turn it down anyway. I don't need it that high. Just pushing the limits to see if I would get a burn taste.

Thats probably the center pin down inside the threading got pressed in from screwing down too hard; use a toothpick to pry it gently upward; you could use a pin but then be carefull not to fire the power on or you will short out the battery. a wooden toothpick wont short out the battery.

any resistance would do; i suggest 2 ohm; maybe the guy at the shop saw you setup and worked out 2.5 would be good; sounds good.

Ok cool! Thanks. I'll try that

the "U" is really "V" for voltage
the "P" is for power.

Use power, and set for 5 watts. You can tweak from there.

You have an mvp so quite frankly it doesnt matter much which ohm you pick; 2.5 is fine.

Actually once you burn something in there, it tends to continue to have a burn taste, so best not to push it.

I think you do have your watts/volts backwards - no big deal, but as far as the coils go I'd suggest just buying Kanger MT3S coils in 5-packs - cheaper than what I've seen Smok coils at ($1.50-1.75 each), and no one ever seems to have the Smok coils in stock. And I'd stick with the 2.5 if you're getting good vapor and not burning your juices as much with them.

I order most of my stuff from Fasttech, but I also have such a collection built up that waiting a month or six weeks for vapemail doesn't kill me. Maybe some others can chime in on US sites they like...

Oh yeah, and like the others have said it sounds like your center pin is pushed down and not giving a good contact. I use a tiny paper clip to pry one edge of my battery center pin up just a hair as needed, but like you've been warned be sure not to hit the fire button while you're digging into metal with metal...or use a toothpick, but be careful not to break the tip off.
