If you are starting out, I'd suggest sticking with one flavor recipes. This way you can get a feel for mixing as well as learn about what % flavor you like. Start low - you can always add flavor, but it's hard to remove or try to dilute to a lower flavor. I'm sure some will argue with that.
Are you planning on all your juice being 100% VG? You may need to up the flavor some due to VG muting flavor a bit.
EM and saline are two additives that you see discussed a bit. Both can be helpful, but starting out, I'd stick to just the flavors. My :2c:

Ty much horton yes I absolutely prefer vg to pg because i like my vape cool and smooth and cloudy

I started out mixing .1ml hawaiian punch with 1ml juice and I am pleased with the outcome...

Another question for anyone...do you think i should experiment with one flavor and different ratios until i get it perfect before moving on?
Or should I just try every flavor at the same ratio to compare them first?

Try some unflavored;
Unflavored has a flavor; it's usefull to recognise that flavor; glycerin also tends to be on the sweet side.

Excellent point about vaping unflavored. It can be very useful is you feel you are getting vapers tongue or vapers mouth -- inability to taste your juice. One thing you can do to help keep the costs down is leave the nic out of the samples if you are able. Scratch that... I just remembered you have 100 mg/ml VG base. Then keep the sample size small.
Your "buds" will take a while to recover from smoking as edyle said. No way I know of to compensate for that. At least you aren't currently buying big quantities of expensive pre-made juice... DIY is so much less costly.....

The Peppermint, Spearmint and Wintergreen can be given a gum-like flavor with some of that Cotton Candy. I make an Altoids-type mint with Wintergreen, a few drops of Menthol Crystals dissolved in PGA, and a tiny drop of Koolada....it's bracing...

You might wish to take a peek at the second post on page 68 of this Forum's very fine thread "DIY Master Techniques - Flavor Add-on's (EM, VW, BW, MTS, ACV, ect)"

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...s-flavor-add-ons-em-vw-bw-mts-acv-ect-68.html

You will find 2 links which should help you in regard to additives.

I have no idea if you "can get easily" any of those items.

Ty for adding that link to the post it fits perfectly here...I do think one of my next steps will be to start working on the additives that give the kick, spice or bang to these juices. As much as I liked the 9% solution of Hawaiian Drink the 14% solution didn't give it any more "pop".

And yes the next day Strawberries and Cream is still awful...i don't think i can even get through 1ml of this juice

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, but when I click the link, I get a thread that is 17 pages long. Correct title, but wrong number of pages. Any help for a somewhat "link impaired" person? TIA

When I first started I had that thread bookmarked. I purchased a lot of those add-on's suggested. It didn't work for me. I've since stop using most if not all. Seems to me for a new diy'er it's a lot of added complication with varied results....ymmv...like the suggestion to use acv with tobacco's...never saw any benefit here...jmo...just my taste preference

Regarding the

DIY Master Techniques - Flavor Add-on's (EM, VW, BW, MTS, ACV, ect)

thread

You really need to read just about that whole thread to understand how to use additives. Its not just the additives but the amount you use that is very critical. Adding to much of an additive will defeat the purpose of the additive and you will generally wind up with something very bad. There is also a lot of misinformation in that thread on what effect these additives have on a mix. For example many believe that EM is a sweetener when in fact it is not. It's used to thicken, add body and wetness to a mix and has the side effect of enhancing an already sweet flavor but it does not in itself add sweetness. So if your going to use additives know what they do.

I've written a blog which will basically sum this all up for you so have a read.

I think the buzzword for additives if used at all should be "moderation". I've been fiddling around with a 10% EM sol'n and am amazed at how such small amounts (.5 - .75%) can make such a large difference. And if you get greedy and crank up the %, well you have shot yourself in the foot. I do think it's probably best when starting DIY to stay away from the additives and learn how just the flavors react. Then if you want, try some of the additives. Least that's how I'm looking at it.

I'm still not getting to pg. 68 with the link. I'm getting to a section in a thread talking about steeping times and methods. Think I'll go find the thread and just "go to" page 68. I do appreciate the help.......:toast:

EDIT: Figured out why I couldn't find pg. 68. I have my post display set to 40/page rather than default. Changed to default and found the reference.... man did I need a "crow" sandwich after that....
