@DrMA:
thank you for the link. I was just going to post this.
"Public ""health"" my foot!

We're all well aware there's no "public" and no "health" in what this corrupt terrorist network does. We should rebrand them for what they really are: "unPublic unHealth" or, in more vernacular language, "secret death" organizations (SDO). :p

I heard a rumor that WHO really stands for "Why Have Openness."

Gotta run, there's a WHO lawyer at my door screaming something about legal action.

Health? I don't think so. ;)

Rampant Antismoking Signifies Grave Danger

US Federal Trade Commissioner Michael Pertschuk said a universal prescription for the "cure of smoking" would be 10 percent medical and 90 percent political.

Interesting perspective from an unrelated study, but going towards the same conclusion: «But the irony is that these groups ["anti-smoking" groups], by disseminating propaganda that is demonstrably resulting in vapers deciding to switch completely back to smoking, are actually helping to promote cigarette smoking. Thus, it is uncomfortable to continue to refer to these organizations as "anti-smoking" groups.»

Just sent this off to Jacob Sullum at Reason mag. Basically ANTZ 'renormalize smoking' by their anti-vape junk science and rhetoric.

Anyone who employs the "renormalize smoking" canard is, quite frankly, a Stalinist. The idea that law-abiding adults should be banned from engaging in lawful behavior, based on what might happen in the mind of a hypothetical observer, could best be described as "second-hand thought crime." Worse yet than punishing people for the thoughts in their own head, now we're trying to punish people for creating (potentially) undesirable thoughts in the minds of others, and it doesn't even matter whether those thoughts actually exist. You pretty much have to reject out of hand every principle upon which free societies are founded in order to promote or support such a policy.

Not 'just' but yeah, I saw it - there's an earlier post on it ;) I expect more to come along those lines.....

This type of stuff is from where 'outrage' comes. I'd like to see more media pick this up. "You mean to tell me after all the anti-smoking crap they've put out, financed, taxes raised, the Master Agreements and NOW, they think vaping is worse than smoking!!???!" ... followed by something from "Through the Looking Glass" :laugh:

In light of this, I think we should publish our own review study using quarterly sales data from all four BT, any ecig use data we can find, and interpret the results in terms of quantity of lies and legislative BS from each country/region. I'm sure we can show a strong negative association between cigarette sales and ANTZ alarmist propaganda on ecigs. Who's up for some scientific writing? I can help ;)

That sounds like a fun (and useful) project. I'm a bit out of practice at writing scientific prose, but I was pretty good at it once upon a time.
