Now I know more how it felt in '37. Tbh, most flavors will survive maybe not vape wizard, hardware will get through, or be easy enough to make, PG/VG are not a concern, as they're readily available. I worry about people desperate enough to go to the grey/black market for nicotine. Anyone know when the tax is going into effect?

The nicotine tax bill hasn't come up for a vote in the House yet. If it doesn't by January it's DOA. If it does and it passes, Trump has said he would veto it.

True, but it doesn't mean much--individual states are introducing and passing their own taxes, sometimes exorbitant, on nic and vaping products. Like California.

I don't trust anyone in government, especially the white house. So, maybe half a year, if we're lucky?

I would hope most of the states have their hands full with covid-19 and are not interested in stomping on us vapers. We need a break.

When NY was in the thick of COVID-19 worse than anywhere else in the world and the state capitol was on lockdown, they passed an e-liquid ban among other things without public debate. Sometimes a public health crisis is a perfect opportunity to sneak in that kind of thing.

It's because they don't want to deal with the crisis at hand, but want to seem to be doing something. These governments sure don't want to do anything about these riots, so if you live in a state that has a lot of that going on, watch out!

If most states are anything like mine, then it isn't going to be long before they are looking for anything and everything they can tax. COVID has killed any cash reserves they had and they are struggling to fund basic services.

Your state is like mine. I'm in Lake Charles, LA.
LOL I didn't even read your state when I said that. My Bad.

I am a couple of hours north of you and at the time I wrote that I had just got done listening to one of the Governors COVID briefings and he talked quite a bit abut how the cash reserves in the state were basically gone.

Not your fault. After your post, I changed my personal info so it would show my state.

Our sales tax revenue is way down which at the beginning of CONID-19 was to be expected. His refusal to open our businesses back up is causing a lot of fatal damage. Put that in with the crash of our oil companies, we will not recover anytime soon. A good Republican Governor would know that he needs to open the state back up, cut taxes, and offer incentives to small businesses to reopen or start new businesses in order to heal our budget problems for the long haul.

At my age, that nic base will outlive me.
I fully expect mine will as well, and this is fully intentional. I do not want to wake up some morning when I'm in my 80s or 90s, having run out and wishing I'd bought more way back when.

But do they have jurisdiction? Nicotine is not a "finished product" and I'm sure it was being sold in the U.S. before the grandfather date.
They do have jurisdiction, but they've repeatedly stated they don't intend to enforce against unfinished products.

Now what exactly does that mean? I completed my stockpile in 2016 because at any time after the Deeming went into effect, the could easily have issued "guidance" requiring allowing unfinished products like nic base to be sold only to those entities that have registered as tobacco product manufacturers. They didn't do that, but the can still do so at any time, without any notice.

    I Don't usually Mince Semantics.
But in this case Rossum, you are Absolutely Correct.
I'm pretty confident that there will be some vendors who continue supply supplying product until JBTs show up and prove once again that all laws and regulations are actually death threats. It's hard to say if or when this will happen. I mean look at all the shops in states like CO and CA opening selling a certain Schedule 1 drug....

What about the grandfather clause? Wouldn't nicotine have grandfather rights? It surely was being sold in the U.S. before February 2007.

What I could Envision is some B&M's doing a Ramp Down until All there Inventory is Gone. Or they can Run Out their Lease.

I question though How Sustainable things will be in the Longer Term when the FDA starts looking into Distributors.
