"you can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink"

Definitely. How many excuses have all of us made when we attempted to quit smoking before trying vaping? I know I was chalked full of excuses, "This year is different." "Well, I already paid the $$$ for these cigarettes, so, after this carton, I'll quit."

I recently tried to get my buddy into vaping. I even hooked him up with the works: 3 eGo batteries, a 5v box mod, a couple of packs of LR and Standard Boge cartos, a fine sample of some the highest quality juices and he gave up (probably almost instantly), as it "didn't taste" enough like the Kools he was used to :glare:

Exactly as M put, one must want to quit before they generally have any success in doing so.

I'd bet that if you expressed concern about what his doctor said, and asked to speak to the doctor...
You wouldn't get the phone number.
I wouldn't bet on it. By and large I have had either no comments from or good comments from Health care professionals (mostly nursing staff. I've had 2 doctors this year that totally freaked out about them though (one was an idiot that signed my admission to the hospital. I really have no idea who he was, nor do I care. The other was an anesthesiologist). Both went into a rant over the nicotine.

There is one situation where this may be possible: if you have emphysema, most likely advanced. People with emphysema are at a higher risk of contracting pneumonia and it may be possible that if you switch from smoking to vaping, and continue at high intensity, there is a risk of pneumonia. That's a *may*, as it is not researched, since useful research of this nature does not attract funding or interest.

So - if you have what is essentially a terminal disease then you might be prone to speeding up the process if you just can't stop using an inhaled source of nicotine - Snus would probably be better in this situation.

Thanks everyone for your input. It really would have bothered me a lot more than what it does if I knew that I could trust what my cousin was saying. I'm sure there are situations where quitting smoking could possibly wreak havoc on cetain peoples systems and possibly advance an ailment already within their system. And possibly, vaping could aggrivate certain ailments in certain individuals.

But thank you everyone for the info. Maybe I should print it all out and leave it on his doorstep :2cool:

No offense, but your cousin sounds like one of those people who likes to back up his unhealthy decisions with "facts" he pulls out of his ..... Everyone who doesn't want to get a flu shot "knows a guy" who got sick and died from getting one. Everyone who doesn't like wearing a seat belt has a story about someone who was saved when they were thrown from a vehicle that eventually blew up. To each their own, but I don't understand the compulsion to justify unhealthy choices. I think it would have been better for him so simply say that he prefers smoking despite the risks. The way he went about it makes him look like a jackass.

I'm sure everyone knows someone that "knows it all" . He's definitely one of them. But it's his loss in the end.
