I like the natural patina that forms on raw metal, keeps it from becoming a shiny finger print magnet, etc. But in time it gets darker and looks kind of grungy. Was noticing all my navel brass/copper Nuppin's were looking like it was time to start over on the natural patina on them. The quandry, dig out the Cape Cod Kit or just go with the Maas.
What I like about the Cape Cod cloths is they easily wipe patina/stains off without rubbing or altering the metals finish. But they are kind of messy (why the kit comes with a couple of pairs of rubber gloves).
The Maas is not as fast but also not as messy, might take some rubbing but easy to do with just a paper towel followed by a soft cloth buff.
I chose the Maas this time, and it did a great job on the Nuppin's and buttons. The down side is while at it I also cleaned the patina off a raw brass door on one of the brass Nuppin' Reos. My tumbled raw brass door that easily cleaned up with the Cape Cod with no issues is now closer to polished brass. Softer brass I guess because the Maas changed the metals finish. I should have tried it on the back of the door first.
